first contact should be with the motorway services , include the AA report and state you had to stop for safety reasons , include the parking eye ticket number and PCN reference number and ask them if they can get this charge dropped , clearly include your email a second time and ask them to confirm if they can help you .
DO IT MY EMAIL or post , NOT BY PHONE , you need a papertrail
if you get a letter back from them , helping you then you can contact PE and tell them to sod offSave a Rachael

I have also received 6 of those letters from Equita. I have previously emailed Morrissons (where I got my fine from) and they were not interested in cancelling the fines. They reversed me back to Parking Eye so it was a time waste. After that I decided to ignore it completely as I know a few people that never responded or paid those fines. What are the chances they will send a bailiff out? That's the only thing that scares me really.0

the company eqita are acting as debt collectors NOT bailiffs , follow the tread to see suggested actions , please read https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5375943 to see how they have inflated the charges , only a fool would pay those charges when if after court they only got £175 and it cost THEM £300 + to collect it!
only after you had been taken to court , if you lost and IF you did not pay , could the courts instruct a bailiff NOT beforeSave a Rachael

Just have a little backbone people.
If you haven't wimped out and given them details they are potentially chasing someone that may have moved away by now.
The work involved to bring one of these cases to court would be huge so there is no chance they're going to be acting on 99.9% of cases.
Those that stuck their head above water: Expect a new wave of intimidation and potentially going to court as an example0 -

Casa ..... they cannot send bailiffs to you, they just love to scare
If it goes to court and you lose, you are then given up to 28 days to pay. If you do not pay then, the company who took you to court can pay a fee to the court to instruct bailiffs.
So Casa don't worry, you may or may not go to court. Parking Eye are simply on a collection of money but it has not gone un-noticed0 -
Received my letter yesterday from Equita, exactly the same as the one posted.
Details are:
Offence - August 2013
Location - Aberystwyth Wales
Commas to date - none, completely ignored all PE letters
Mine was a funny one, I returned to the car well within the two hours but couldn't get out of the car park due to the poor design of the road system / location of the exit. By the time I'd queued to get out and reached the ANPR camera I must of gone over the two hours.
This is the first letter for approx a year.
Do I ignore or reply with the text posted?
Cheers0 -
Surely as a DCA they must be regulated by someone like the Financial Conduct Authority ?.
Surely if you are going to send in a complaint to the BPA about ParkingEye using a sister company (Equita) to chase debts (and in the process, adding on their own fees), then it is worthwhile CC-ing the FCA at the same time?.
If the BPA is unwilling to do something, then if enough people have cc'ed the FCA, then they will start to take notice?.Never Knowingly Understood.

got ours from Equita today. I have no idea what to make of it as its the first we know of it, there are no details of car, day, date, time etc. In fact I have to assume it was even us!!! and while we were shopping at Lidl where it took 20 to 30 minutes to shop an over 90 minutes to get out of the car park due to ridiculous trafficking system that day.
Because of the incredible lack of detail or knowledge about this, it may as well literally be made up so I feel like writing back to them along the lines:
"Dear Equita,
My sister contacted you recently with the above reference for unpaid deposit to her bank account. As the deposit has not been received the matter has now been passed to me with instruction to recover the outstanding sum of say £1000 sounds good enough (at least it will cover my solicitor's fee). If you do not take action.... etc. "
I don't have a successful stupid case to quote unfortunately..0 -

NO the FCA only deal with regulated debt collectors , and equita are not involved in regulated debts.
the financial ombudsman cannot/will not get involved with A:a claim that is from an unregulated debt collector and B: a parking company , as they have there own regulators (BPA/IAS)
perhaps trading standards?Save a Rachael
