Before their collapse, I would submit my meter readings to Avro on 7th.

Is there any point, or will those of us recently switched, have 26th as their billing date?

Follow the advice given in the FAQ's here https://avroenergy.co.uk/ which is mirrored in the advice given by Octopus. As long as you enter meter readings for the 26th September you do not need to do anything further.
I can't answer the billing date question as that information has not as yet been forthcoming from Octopus. Similarly for Avro customers who cancelled their Direct Debit with Avro but who have set up a new Direct Debit with Octopus no information has been provided by Octopus as to which date the new DIrect Debit will be taken from your bank.

  • I'm just living the dream for now knowing that my payment of £140 due on the 21st of this month will not be going out. Then when that dream ends I expect my new monthly payment to be at least £240, maybe as high as £300. I'm certainly in no rush for Octopus to set up my new account and haven't been checking for any 'updates' what is the point, really?

Unless you've cancelled the DD, it will still go, just will get diverted to Octopus.
The "point" in checking is that you're using energy which you will have to pay for. Unfortunate that we don't know exactly what that will be yet, but all indicators are it will be very close to their standard Flexible tariff, so we can get a good idea of cost. Hope you have credit with Avro which will offset your bill when it comes.

  • Yes I cancelled the DD, the rest of YOUR "point", I already know.

Expect a whopping increase in price if on Flexible Octopus next April which applies to most of us. Prices might be more than double what we were paying Avro.

My Avro fixed rate tariff would have been ending around then anyway, so it actually makes no difference.

It is only the period between now and next April that has changed.

Latest Octopus update for Avro customers

    UPDATE 1PM WEDNESDAY 6TH OCTOBER

We are now underway with training the awesome Avro teams on our systems. This means for the very first time we will be able to help Avro customers with dual access to both the Avro and Octopus systems. Thank for those who have had to wait for us to have access to Avro systems to help with their query - we will get back to you soon now we are starting to get this access.

We are also almost ready to start producing a small number of final bills from the Avro systems, which will quickly ramp up over the coming weeks.

The more I've thought about the last sentence in the above statement the more I think it's total nonsense!
Surely producing Avro's final bills would be the responsibility of the Administrators and would be done by them not Octopus?

Agreeing the final meter reading is the responsibility of the gaining supplier, who then passes that reading to the losing supplier.
So while it will be Avro staff processing the bills, it is going to be reliant on Octopus providing the agreed final meter readings, so does not look like 'nonsense' to me...

Not really, the administrators are not in a normal administrators role.  OFGEM has the power (or rather than legal instrument given to it).  In terms of customers, billing, credits etc - it's been transferred to Octopus.  Beyond that, the administrators pack up the business as per a "normal" process with, as an example, a retailer.

Quick question about the final meter readings. I've taken a dated photo of the meter on 26th, but who do I tell? I've not been given a way to open an online account with Octopus, just an email telling me they are taking me as a customer. I keep going on the Avro website but it's all blanked out, and says to try again in 15 minutes (Ive been trying every day since 26th sept) what are other people doing?
We were told not to cancel the DD, so we haven't done, but another payment was made to Avro on 1st (after the day they went bust) so will that be protected and calculated before Avro send final figures to Octopus, or will our only credit be what the state of play was on 26th?
Not looking forward to higher bills, but we have benefited from really good deals over they years thanks to Martin. Fingers crossed we can all manage!

You should have also had an email from Octopus with a link in it so you could give your meter readings. They did this as many of us were finding that we couldn't log in to Avro.

My d/d also went out on the first.
