MWT said:Most ex-Avro customers have not had time to set up a DD and have it collected yet, if you only did it a few days before the date you chose for collection it will be next month before it takes effect. If that leaves you behind with a debt on the account then just use the option to make a top-up payment in your web account. From memory I setup my new Octopus Direct Debit on 29th September after receiving the second email from Octopus with the first payment due to be collected on 25th October so it was in place inplenty of time. Other than Octopus making an error or incompetence as far as I can see there's no acceptable reason for it not being collected on the scheduled date.Since then I have also made a one-off payment into my Octopus account on the 15th October to cover my cancelled Direct Debit payment to Avro which was due to be paid on 25th September.Other than being inconvenient it's obviously not a problem but it looks like I'll be forced into making a further one-off payment into my Octopus account to cover the missed Direct Debit due to be collected on 25th October. The question is what happens if exactly the same thing happens with the Direct Debit payment due on 25th November?

Bulb to follow Avro, but with triple the number of customers forced into higher bills and to who knows which supplier.

Clearly the government`s policy of switch, switch, switch has completely failed.
And Ofgem allowing countless, unchecked minnows to enter the energy market instead of making the "big six" actually compete with each other has back-fired big time.

I'll go through the previous comments as well but I was wondering what you people did since Avro went busted?I left my DD running and Avro kept taking the monthly payment. The switch to Octopus will be completed next week so should I setup a DD with them as well so they can start taking payments from November or December? What about tarrif? They've put us on Flexible Avro, apparently a great-value variable tariff.
Prices (including VAT) are:- A standing charge of 24.86p per day and 20.99p/kWh for your electricity.
- A standing charge of 26.11p per day and 4.13p/kWh for your gas.
Is it worth having a look for a cheaper tarrif with either Octopus or a different supplier? If we move to a different supplier will take a while and I'm not sure what's the benefit considering the current market.Thanks0 -

This thread seems a bit extinct now Avro`s gone under.
It might be easier to keep up with events regarding the switch to Octopus if we all post on this thread.
