  • Of course it's your fault. Who else is there to blame. :)

  • Hi.
Any thoughts…I’m in the middle of a switch to Avro (due to switch tomorrow) but they’ve already taken my first direct debit of £211…I had only just given them my meter readings this morning.
I suppose I just have to sit tight and see how it plays out? I’m still £600 in credit with Igloo, who I’m supposed to be leaving. Currently cruising out at sea so can’t phone Igloo for advice either.

crikaus : No. Cancel Avro DD is about all else you can do for now.

My DD was taken yesterday, is it worth trying to reclaim that payment from the bank?
  • You could get your bank to reclaim the D/D if you act fast.

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • Always worth a try. Why not?

  • Hi All,

Just in process of switching to Avro, I am still within cooling off period, supply due to switch on 6th Oct, so theoretically can cancel and remain on current Shell Flexible 6 tariff, or check the market for any alternatives (however poor they maybe).  Any advice of best approach under the current circumstances.

Also, who would I contact to cease the switch now that Avro is no more? Is this even is the best course of action, or is it best to leave things to proceed?

    Thoughts appreciated and thanks all.

I could spit.  All these clever people on here who sensed the ship sinking in time to do something about it and I have over £300 credit which will now evaporate on some SoLR's disgustingly over inflated SVR.  DAMN!
If the SVR is capped, it will work out cheaper than some of the rates currently available. In fact, some providers such as British Gas have even withdrawn their SVR rates and are only signing up new customers to their more expensive fixed tariffs.

As far as I know, Jeremy Vine is full of it (which will come as no surprise to most, I surmise)  Why should any other supplier honour a now defunct supplier's tariff?  It ain't gonna happen.  They will put us on their most expensive tariff for as long as they can because we can do nothing about it until we know who they are.  Once we do, we can switch but I doubt we will ever see the kind of tariffs Avro offered again... It might be time to buy some candles, folks.

What I want to know is, who is now going to pay the WHD to core group members?  It should be whoever you were with in the first half of July but it ain't gonna be now, is it?  Not a good day.  Any advice anyone can offer would be appreciated as this was my first (and last) foray into non-Big 6 territory.  Never again.
Nothing to do with clever but sheer luck and that's assuming it goes smoothly. I asked the question earlier about when was the latest i could change my mind and cancel the switch to Sainsburys and within literally 10 minutes of asking that question they had announced time was up!! So even this afternoon i was unsure whether i had made right move  and i'm certainly not over enthused about having to get smart meters. Maybe i can get off it by then if prices tumble again!! B)

As for Vine....i thought he used to be ok but don't know what happened to the guy. Stopped listening to his condescending attitude a couple of years back.

Try contacting your existing supplier. I tried successfully with EDF.

In a similar position. I switched yesterday... I've emailed them to cancel the switch so I will see what happens.
