  • I'm in the middle of a switch from Avro to Sainsburys which was due to complete at the beginning of October. I'm not sure whether I should contact Sainsburys Energy and cancel the switch because I'm now worried that this switch will intefere with a SoLR trying to switch at the same time. All I can see is confusion ahead. Can anyone advise ?

I would let the switch continue.
  • I have more than enough credit to clear my next bill, (due for payment on the 2nd October), so with that in mind I have cancelled my direct debit.
Will this cause any future problems with the S.O.L.R.?
Whatever, it makes me feel better!
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

No. My Avro DD is due in the next few days and I am about to cancel with my bank. The SoLR will contact you to set up a new one in due course.
We can't do much (except cancel DDs) about what has happened so we might just as well relax and let things take their course. We'll sleep better.

Once a SoLR is appointed, is the deemed contract rate going to be subject to the price cap? If so, are we better off sticking with it until next April as fixed rates available at the moment are higher than the capped SVR from 1 Oct.

Yes, it will be subject to the rate cap.

Oh well, first company I have been with that's gone bust but got a good few years out of Avro and in fairness all the statements are all up-to-date and took my direct debit on the on the 19th as per usual

Have £250 balance so we will wait and see see what to do, I've downloaded the last couple of statements and balance off the website. Do I need taken a metre reading and/ or cancel the DD?
  • I could spit.  All these clever people on here who sensed the ship sinking in time to do something about it and I have over £300 credit which will now evaporate on some SoLR's disgustingly over inflated SVR.  DAMN!

As far as I know, Jeremy Vine is full of it (which will come as no surprise to most, I surmise)  Why should any other supplier honour a now defunct supplier's tariff?  It ain't gonna happen.  They will put us on their most expensive tariff for as long as they can because we can do nothing about it until we know who they are.  Once we do, we can switch but I doubt we will ever see the kind of tariffs Avro offered again... It might be time to buy some candles, folks.

What I want to know is, who is now going to pay the WHD to core group members?  It should be whoever you were with in the first half of July but it ain't gonna be now, is it?  Not a good day.  Any advice anyone can offer would be appreciated as this was my first (and last) foray into non-Big 6 territory.  Never again.

crikaus : No. Cancel Avro DD is about all else you can do for now.

I moved to Avro from Iresa.
Hope this present mess is nothing to do with me!
