I am happy with them since I joined last Nov. They are good at answering query's on Twitter. Just renewed with them for another fixed year as the rate is far better than the best on MSE Energy club

are you not worried they might go bust? Online chat hardly ever works, so I'll try them on Twitter

Jumping from Avro to Eon/Sainsburys is tempting. The concern is how long it would take to get back a refund from Avro if they went under.
If Avro did go under and you were still an existing customer, you would be switched to the S.O.L.R. and any credit owed to you by them would be protected.
However if you had already switched to a new supplier prior to the demise, any credit owed to you by Avro, would be handled by the Administrators.
Therefore your refund would depend on any monies left over after priorities, such as VAT, N.I., Income Tax etc. were settled.
Cash refunds to customers come way down the line.
    Don't hold your breath!
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

    This is incorrect.

Even if you have already left a supplier that then fails, your refund will be dealt with by the SoLR appointed by Ofgem not the administrators and you will eventually get any balance owing
  • On Monday 20th September I decided to leave Avro after being with them over two years and initiated a switch to a 2 year fix with another company

Just an update to say that I received a 'Sorry your leaving us" email from Avro today asking me to confirm I was in fact leaving, asking me to either ring them or email them with my confirmation.

Tried ringing with no joy and have thus sent them an email.

Quite impressed with the initial quick response from Avro in the first place and wait with fingers, toes etc all crossed for a smooth switch.

    Will update along the way.

At the moment, I'm around £130 in credit with Avro and other £49.00 will be added in a few days. Is there any reason I  shouldn't stop my direct debit to Avro?

The only consequence I can think of is that Avro might transfer you to their SVT, perhaps from the date of your latest statement.

How is the SVT paid for?
Is it after you received a bill or is it in advance?
  • Looking at <Avro Energy Prices> there may also be an additional charge of £20 for direct debit refusal.

Notice it says "per occasion" so does that mean £20 a month.

Back to my original Q how is SVT paid?

Apart from pre- payment meter have they got any tariifs that are not DD.
