Just checked out the latest Avro tariff - Avro Simple and Super12M. Would be around £30 extra per year compared to my current Avro Simple and Superpremium 1 year fixed tariff. The gas and electricity rates are exactly the same but the daily rate increases from 16.8p to 21p.0

So, you're not considering a tariff change just yet then.JohnB47 said:Just checked out the latest Avro tariff - Avro Simple and Super12M. I've been with Avro for 5 years now and I was generally happy with the product. I had a Smets2 meter installed at the begining of October 2020. Smets2 is so that they can take your readings automatically daily/weekly/monthly, it's really your choice.I kept getting the monthly reminders right up until February. I rang them up and asked why are they not taking automatic readings so that my bill could be better monitored. The information I was given was that they don't yet have all the software in place. I asked why that was, you don't advertise a facility when you haven't got the infrastructure in place prior to starting it. The guy said "I don't know sir, but I can contact the customer reading team and ask them if they would take your reading, but can't guarantee it." Well they didn't so I'm now on the market for a supplier who does what it says on the tin.If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

I believe that Octopus have a good track record with smart meters (but can't speak from first hand experience). I use them with normal meters and have had little to complain about with this. I have been getting invoices within hours of submitting a meter reading.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
The problem is, lack of consistency across the industry, just looking at other threads on here, the industry has a very long way to go for both automatic meter reading, and switching suppliers. In response to your comment on Octopus Energy, they don't have any record with smart meter readings, they are still in the early stages of rolling them out, confirmed on their website. The only company I have seen working successfully with Smart meter readings is OVO energy, but their customer service is appalling.Telegraph_Sam said:I believe that Octopus have a good track record with smart meters (but can't speak from first hand experience). An earlier post on this thread reported that Avro does acquire smart-meter readings but the process is not yet automated. This can lead to estimated readings on statements. I assume this is because there is a gap between the date the readings are taken and the statement date (but that's just a guess).FreddieM said:I've been with Avro for 5 years now and I was generally happy with the product. I recently renewed with Avro after getting over the initial shock of the 'across the boards' price rise and took Simple and Supersaving however after seeing a few posts back about yet another new tariff being introduced I thought I'd check it out and there does appear to be a slight saving for me based on usage of course and my DD would reduce from £142 to £140. Well any saving is a saving so I hit the renew button and it replied with 'Sorry we cannot renew etc' call this number?
Have I missed something or done something wrong or am I not allowed to renew because my new tariff (Supersaving) only started 1st March
I am reluctant to call them as I don't fancy hanging on the phone for a week.

Have I missed something or done something wrong or am I not allowed to renew because my new tariff (Supersaving) only started 1st MarchI have a suspicion that the new Super12M tariff has been introduced temporarily to compete with MSE's Big Switch Event 17 launched recently. I reckon it's likely to disappear on the 12th when the Big Switch expires.Perhaps they don't want to make it available to their existing customers. The tariff wasn't listed on Citizens Advice earlier today - but then nor has the SuperSaving tariff ever been listed on there.

Interesting, It did offer me Super12m when I did the usual request a quote without logging in then Avro recognized me as existing customer and so when I did login and hit the renew now button that's when I got the 'no can do' message. Perhaps it is as you say not really available to existing customers and I'll have to live with what I've got for now although in reality I'm still mulling over the idea of going with separate suppliers but not in a big hurry to pay upfront DD,s just yet.Consumerist said:onlyfoolsandparking said:I recently renewed with Avro after getting over the initial shock of the 'across the boards' price rise and took Simple and Supersaving however after seeing a few posts back about yet another new tariff being introduced I thought I'd check it out and there does appear to be a slight saving for me based on usage of course and my DD would reduce from £142 to £140. I just switched from Simple and Supersaving to Super12M after only a few weeks on the first one, it's almost the same price for me (Standard charge is higher but electricity is cheaper) but for some reason Avro will reduce the DD by £20/month.
As for not letting you change, did you set the renewal date before clicking 'Renew'?
The option is hard to miss, if you don't change it it'll take effect when you current tariff ends, not right away.2
