I just switched from Simple and Supersaving to Super12M after only a few weeks on the first one, it's almost the same price for me (Standard charge is higher but electricity is cheaper) but for some reason Avro will reduce the DD by £20/month.

As for not letting you change, did you set the renewal date before clicking 'Renew'?
The option is hard to miss, if you don't change it it'll take effect when you current tariff ends, not right away.
Thanks for the helpful tip regarding setting the renewal date, just tried renewing now onto Super 12M and it worked without issue, not a massive saving for me regarding DD but unit price savings will work in my favour as I'm in the heavy user category.

Whoops! here comes another one. . .
A new tariff 'Simple and GoSuper12M' has been launched by Avro. It's about £25 pa more expensive (for me) than the 'Super12M' and has £30 per fuel exit fees.

Super 12 M still comes up for me by default with no exit fees as before. No sign of GoSuper.  No exit fees used to be one of Avro's plus points. One wonders if this is about to change. Several of the top search engine choices come with high exit fees

Like you, I thought Avro's major selling point was that there were no exit fees. I've no idea what they might be up to at the moment.

  • How does Avro really work???
Out of curiosity I did the 'get a quote' (again!!) without logging in like a lot of us Avro customers know how to do and whilst they didn't offer me their latest Gosuper tariff (would be interested to know the unit prices on this new tariff compared to Super 12M), they did offer the same tariff I just renewed on yesterday BUT now with a DD of £137. I've just renewed at £140 yesterday. As I said how do they really work?

I'd be inclined to ask them to explain/justify the D/D and if necessary to challenge it. I suspect that many of these suppliers use customers as sources of working capital in place of banks (who charge interest ..)

Been with Avro for 6 weeks the first bill was just over £40. around £9 cheaper than my old supplier this month. Although they take 5 days to produce the bill from the date of the bill this means I can put my meter reading in early on the morning around 03:00 and the bill is worked out on those readings.
I expect the yearly saving to be around £70 as I overestimated the usage in case of severe weather in winter so the extra usage would be taken by the gas as I overestimated by 20% on the electric and 13% on the gas still my monthly payment is £20 less than I was paying the old supplier, who used to rate the usage on the type of building and bedrooms.
The estimated usage is used to calculate what your Direct Debit amount should be.What you need to do is make sure your payments do cover your actual usage over the year. Typically, you'll be paying less than the actual cost in the winter and a bit more in the summer, unless you've got seasonally adjusted DD payments.
I believe Avro (like many other suppliers) will only recalculate your DD amount once every 6 months, so it's up to you to keep an eye on it. Historically, Avro have always used the starting gas annual usage estimate for their ongoing estimates shown on the monthly statements and never change it, but do adjust the electricity annual usage estimate to reflect your actual usage. So, don't rely on their future estimates, always do your own based on your actual annual usage in kWh.

I give meter readings on the day early in the morning of the date, around 03:00, with the previous supplier I did this the day before, so I give a reading on the 19th of the month, the previous supplier produced the bill on the day, which was the 14th, so I had to send the reading on the 13th at the latest.
I only put the heating on when really needed but on occasion, I have forgotten to turn it off and the heating has been on overnight. Last year that produced a £100 monthly bill in Jan 2020, but has I had nearly £500 credit it wasn't that much of a loss. Due to memory problems if I turn the heating on I now set a reminder to check the heating before I go to bed.
Someone please tell me what money is

I don`t think Avro charge an exit fee if you just changed tariff with them, only if you leave.

No exit fee at all, even for leaving. e.g. exiting.

. . .(would be interested to know the unit prices on this new tariff compared to Super 12M), . . .
I found the 'GoSuper12M' using <Avro Energy prices> page. Enter your postcode. Select the tariff from the drop-down list to get unit, daily and exit charges.
