No smart meters at my house so I doubt this is the cause.  There are 1 or 2 others dotted about (esp the YE thread) who have suffering opening read validation problems but it is not a universal issue otherwise the forums would be knee-deep in this kind of problem.
Not wanting to divert from what is the main theme of this thread but could you give me a link to the "YE thread"? Tks

May not be relevant but has smart meters on one or other account got anything to do with it?

That's the only niggle I have, from memory the only reports I've seen are those that went to Avro?  There was someone with a Neon Reef issue but I think that was a transposed reading issue?

Yet another tariff change from Avro.
Simple and supersaving has bit the dust and a dearer one has replaced it.
    Simple and Super12M
Don`t know if the switching sites have got it yet.

It's not on Citizens Advice yet. But then SuperSaving never made it at all.
The new Super12M works out about £5 pa cheaper than the replaced SuperSaving for me.
I think Avro is deliberately playing silly b*ggers, if you ask me. :o

"Any switch right now is sure to be blocked I would have thought (even though I have now been with Avro for over a month) because Avro are unsure that I am not in debt to them! "
Well i rang them today and they could not even answer this question without stumbling.
I have asked them for a definitive answer so i can pass it on to the Ombudsman and leave them,But as of yet i have had no reply.
I would rather switch to a better company and pay the extra £120 a year than deal with this totally inept company.
So basically they have me between a rock and a hard place.
I can not leave till they set-up the account but they can not set the account up. :'(

Any other information re the lack of progress from their Data Collector in terms of validating your opening read yet?

I'm telling you Avro is turning into Hotel California ...

But you can never leave! "

The new rate is slightly cheaper for me.

No just said it takes 30 days which passed 6 days ago,She was supposed to ring me back but has not bothered yet.
I told them i just want to leave but they would not say one way or the other as to if they would block a switch.

Just had the following back from avro when they said they would ring me.
    "Hi Mr T******,
    Thank you for your email,
You are free to switch suppliers if you wish to do so.
I appreciate that you are frustrated that we cannot issue a statement and i apologise for this. However, Until we receive the reading i cannot issue the statement.
I have chased this again with our data quality department for you.
    Thank you"
So in theory this could go on for ever more.
I have already built up £180 in credit so i think i will cancel the direct debit and switch now.

It will not go on for evermore. It WILL get sorted in time - you just need a little more patience.
Make a formal complaint if you feel you need to but you don't really want to pay an extra £120 pa if you really don't need to. Do you?
Be careful if you intend to cancel the DD or you might find yourself put on their standard-rate tariff to compound an already irritating situation.
