  • So all things considered which combination of search engine(s) and deals do you find offer the best value in your circs and are these better than Avro? [in my case the E.On Excl v 59 via Which and uSwitch is very price competitive - except that smart meters are mandatory which means it loses several brownie points from the outset]

Searched CAB, cheapest Neo 4.1, followed by Avro superswitcher.
Searched Which switch, cheapest Avro superswitcher, Neo 4.1 not even mentioned.

For me, I found both Which and CAB were returning old tarriffs so entirely useless.

Uswitch with show tarriffs they can't swith you too worked best in my case.

Which? Switch doesn't seem to be Ofgem accredited, anyway.

  • Energy Helpline used to have a good reputation. For me they come up with the usual recommendations (no mention of Avro however) - but it looks like only those that they can switch you to. Within these is British Gas Evolve whose tariffs seem to change daily.

. . . Does anyone have any experience of DD being taken after Final statement generated?
In my experience, the real final statement is issued 6 weeks after a switch. Anything received before then is an interim statement subject to amendment.

Interesting. My online account clearly show 'Final Statement' and the PDF download is headed 'Your final Gas and Electricity Bill'. Email from the COT team says 'We have now been able to close down your account, and generate your Final Statement'.

I wasn't surprised that they took the DD on 20th as it had was probably already been generated when they calculated the 'Final Statement'. I'll give it a few more days to update.

How many definitions of 'Final' are there, I wonder
My Final Statement was generated 18th Jan.
Additional DD taken 20th Jan and by 25th, the Statement had been updated to reflect this so over £110 in credit.
    Still waiting for my refund.
  • Not forgetting that if you don't hang about you can reclaim the D/D via the banks' guarantee scheme if you were not advised of the D/D in advance such that you could if necessary have stopped it. My interpretation of the mechanics at least.

Ordinarily, you should expect to receive your refund within 10 working days of the Final Statement. As that statement was amended it is likely that it will be received within 10 working days of the amended statement. I understand that Ofgem is also allowing some leeway for suppliers in the current Covid-19 crisis and I can't imagine that Avro will not take advantage of it.

That's not unreasonable, and neither am I.
I'm expecting refund by Friday 5th, but as we're supposed to complete tomorrow on our next home & move furniture from storage on & move in on Saturday 6th, I won't be chasing later until next week!

'Which? Switch' uses Energylinx, which is Ofgem accredited.
