  • Same with MSM, uSwitch, energy helpline, citizens advice & co?  Choosing a search engine is as complicated as choosing a supplier it seems.

Citizens Advice included Avro and gave the same results regardless of whether I said I was already with Avro or a different supplier.
Presumably the CEC doesn't show any Avro results if you've said you're already an Avro customer because switching to a cheaper Avro tariff won't earn any commission, but gaining a customer from another company would?

Same for me too. I think Citizens Advice should generally be the first port of call, these days.

When I did my Switch to Avro about 3 weeks ago, no Avro tariff was listed on CEC regardless of my existing supplier on there being set to Peoples Energy.

CEC is a con, these days it's purpose appears to be to gain MSE commission rather than as a useful tool for consumers. Put simply make sure you use a good selection of comparison sites and do not put any faith into CEC.

Perhaps someone should complain about it on one of these shows Martin Lewis is on...

I dread to think how much out of pocket you could end up if you used the auto switch feature...
  • The Simply Switch search engine has come up with two Avro tariffs for me
    Simple & SuperConnect
    Simple & GoSave
both 12 m fixed and no exit fees.  Both vastly cheaper than anything else I have found anywhere. Downside however is that Avro themselves are offering me only Simple and SuperSwitcher which is less attractive. Now you sees it now you don't.

If you try to switch via Simply Switch, it seems likely you will be directed to Avro's site who will simply put you on the SuperSwitcher tariff anyway.
You may well have been conned into believing your new tariff will be cheaper than it really is.

Unfortunately it seems that the Simply Switch site may be well out of date.  Both those tariffs are listed as not being available to new customers.
  • " ... now you don't".  Energylinx is a new one to me and cannot switch to Avro.

. . . Energylinx is a new one to me and cannot switch to Avro.
Since Avro apparently does not pay commission to switching sites, you will not be able to switch to Avro directly from any of them.

It's an Ofgem-accredited price comparison site that powers 'Which? Switch' but it defaults to hiding the deals that don't pay commission.
It keeps reverting every time you make a new selection, so it's better to use 'Which?'.
