Both GNE and Simplicity went into credit default before going bust.
Avro did also go into credit default last week (or be it just for like 12 hours). I would think they should be fine for a bit but I have to admit I didn't see GNE going under coming.0 -
Green Network & Simplicity. See today's news page.
Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

There is more than one "Green ...." company, I believe that GNE is / was owned by an Italian co if I am not confusing them. May be the same as GNE UK. There is also "Green" in Newcastle. Simplicity used to have top slot in at least one of the search engines rankings. Sounds a bit chaotic.Telegraph Sam

"I had £300 credit then asked for a refund and that credit went and my DD was increased" - likely hadn't given a meter reading for a year and was billed on actual usage for the first time in 12 months
'If I were a new customer, I wouldn't be expected to pay two months at the start of my contract as a buffer – why should I now?' - most suppliers ask for at least 1 month payment to start with, some ask for 2.... so actually you would expect to have to do that as a new customer.
If Ofgem set deadlines for final bills and refunds then most suppliers will likely leave it to the last second to part with the cash unless there's a complaint and 3rd party (ombudsman) involved.
What I don't understand is why they're focusing on 1 case of a slow refund by a supplier, which is actually within the allowed time frames... Instead they could easily focus on someone like Utility Point who have hundreds of customers waiting months for credit refunds after switching.1 -
