I believe that they are legally obliged to give you advance notice of when and how much any D/D that they are intending to take and you have the opportunity to dispute this (before or after). My understanding of the system.Telegraph Sam

I wasn't surprised that they took the DD on 20th as it had was probably already been generated when they calculated the 'Final Statement'. I'll give it a few more days to update.
How many definitions of 'Final' are there, I wonder0 -

I would suggest you raise any query AFTER you have received your refund.EditAt that point perhaps your bank will help you get the additional DD back.

@Consumerist
Thanks, will do as you suggest. Jan DD payment not yet showing, but again, I'm not surprised. I'll check in a few days.0 -
I seem to remember when I quit Tonik I cancelled the D/D the minute my account was zero to avoid a credit balance being built up subsequently and then having to argue and plead about getting further D/D's refunded. Not the way they wanted to do it but they weren't able to argue (convincingly).Telegraph Sam

Breeze took a dd even after they went under, so I cancelled mine immediately after that. Again that was contrary to advice but I'm not paying DDs to an insolvent company.2

Nor would I pay unjustified DD's to a company however solvent they were! There is no reason not to set up a new DD agreement if called for once account balance has been restoredTelegraph Sam

Some pages back, I said I had emailed Avro to ask why their quotes didn't show all the supposedly "available" tariffs. This is the most relevant part of their reply:To do this online head to my.avroenergy.co.uk/renew and login.
This will generate you a renewal quote based on the only tariff we have available (we only ever have one tariff available) using the annual consumption figures we hold for your property.So it doesn't really answer the question, but does state their intention to only ever have one tariff available. The "annual consuimption figures we hold for your property" do not accurately reflect the actual readings they've been given IME, but that's another topic.It does give a slightly quicker way for existing customers to get a quote too!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
