Does anyone know if Avro are good company to haggle with regarding tarrifs?
I never bother trying to phone them (life's too short!) but they do seem to reply to emails within their stated response time - or maybe I've just been lucky - and have responded reasonably to my requests (again, maybe I've just been lucky!)
Slightly dependent on who picks up your email, one time I asked for an adjustment and a very nice lady adjusted it firmly and it stayed well balanced vs usage. Another time I asked and despite having gained a £500 credit the person wouldn't budge much so the credit has gone down very slowly and still is a lot. One of the emails from her was subtlety defiant and not the best customer attitude.

Ha! yes we are pretty big energy users, especially with two home offices and kids at home currently. And yes its a fair size 'mansion'
Big property or small property, an 80% increase seems excessive if that's the projected annual increase.

Not entirely sure what you mean wrt haggling regarding tariffs, but from my experience last year (the second year I'd been with Avro) they set my DD in February too high (as they always do at contract commencement!) and I started to work up a bit of a credit immediately (because, of course, you're also paying a month in advance with Avro).  I started the contract year asking them to reduce the DD (which they did by £3pm) but by May I had still built up more than 1 month's credit on the account so I asked them to reimburse this amount, which they agreed to do 5 days later.  I never bother trying to phone them (life's too short!) but they do seem to reply to emails within their stated response time - or maybe I've just been lucky - and have responded reasonably to my requests (again, maybe I've just been lucky!)
Two days ago, my quote was £2.00 cheaper per month via the Avro site. Avro have updated the tarrif they had on offer to a more expensive one, so i was hoping to see if they could offer the previous cheaper one.

Well, if the previous tariff has been withdrawn altogether I don't fancy your chances, but as the old saying goes: if you don't ask, you don't get.  It's probably worth your time sending an email to ask.

Did someone say the new tariff started from they moment they clicked "renew now"?
    Because my renewal page says

Your current tariff ends on: 14/02/2021

Your new tariff will start on 15/02/2021

    Renew now.

So i would not expect to pay the higher rates until the middle of February.

Edit. Unless by "new tariff" they mean the more expensive one i will roll on to if i take no action. Maybe renew now really is instant.

@wiseonesomeofthetime said that, but that hasn't been my experience.  My current tariff is due to expire on 19th February and when I clicked the Renew Now button, the screen showed that my new tariff would start on 20th February - I didn't have to change anything.  I had my "Renewal Pack" emailed almost immediately and this also confirms the start date for my new tariff as 20th February, so if my next statement shows they've already switched me from my current SuperFixed to SuperPremium (new tariff) early, I will be emailing them in no uncertain terms.
    My renewal letter says:
Thank you once again for choosing Avro Energy to supply energy to your home.
Here is a summary of the energy tariff you have selected:
    -  You have selected Simple and SuperPremium
    -  Your Tariff is Fixed for 12 Months
    -  Your renewal will take effect from 20th February 2021
    -  Your Monthly Direct Debit is £96.00

I think this is pretty unequivocal - my new tariff (SuperPremium) will start on 20th Feb.

Thanks Katy, I've decided to push the button on the renewal as comparison sites only show poor service alternatives and it feels like prices are creeping up in the market and with Avro at the moment.

It's virtually no risk because I can always leave with no penalty of a new collective switch comes along in March. The only way I'd lose is if Avro reduce their renewal rates in the next month, but my hunch is they're likely to creep up rather than down.

I miss Breeze though. They were always competitive with decent friendly service, and let you switch again instantly if they had a better tariff on offer. Nice and simple. Shame it was all too good to be true.

I totally agree.  Since I started looking on 4th Jan, prices (including Avro's) have only gone up.  And as you say, we're not tied in by exit fees, so no risk. :)

The statement clearly shows that the change was effected on the day I renewed, and not the end of the current tariff, as requested!

    No ambiguity there.

@AngelicKaty - No Renewal Pack received yet either.

Avro needs to be asked why existing customers are only being offered the choice of one tariff for renewing, when there are twelve "currently available" on their website.

Of course nobody has to stay with them if there are better deals around elsewhere.

Sites that don`t list Avro are obviously not getting a backhander from them, including MSE.
