Usually they do. But I did see one last year sent two days after the billing date. Luckily we had already submitted readings, and they were used. So, don't rely on their reminders, set up your own.oldagetraveller1 said:...Do they send a reminder e-mail just before the billing date? If so, I'll wait for that next month and submit readings either on the day or just before.

They send a reminder around 3 days before the statement date. If you want them to use your readings for the statement then, in my experience, it's best to wait until the actual statement date itself to submit the readings.oldagetraveller1 said:. . . Thanks both. I received a meter reading reminder e-mail this morning.

Avro came out top on a comparison I did today, but I have never heard of them. Are they any good?
Some of the reviews I read said that they are very hard to leave once you are with them!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

No, just 100 would do
. The question is however very valid and Avro are certainly not unique in being a bit sticky when it comes to parting company as evidenced by other threads. In my view if the same weight was given in search engines etc to how easy / difficult it is to switch away from a company unscathed as to how attractive it is to switch to a company in the first place, there would or should be a radical rearranging of the recommendations. In my case I switched from Tonik to Octopus (the Tonik thread speaks for itself) who seem very switched on and cooperative. But the acid test of parting has yet to come ... Telegraph Sam

I've been with Avro since January 2018 as they've come up as the best dual-fuel supplier for me since then (and I check every year). I've not had any real problems with them as far as service goes although I find having to pay one month in advance a bit odd (do other suppliers do this?) and their bizarre practice of ignoring your meter readings unless you submit them on the precise date they're due (not a day before or a day after), but these are minor "quirks" to get a good deal. I can't comment on leaving them as I haven't tried to yet, but I must admit, I've also read some slightly alarming stories (particularly wrt getting a refund on any credit). In terms of service, I'd have to recommend them.melbury said:Avro came out top on a comparison I did today, but I have never heard of them. Are they any good?

The main pitfalls with Avro are (1) they tend to (wrongly) block transfers if you have a debit balance on your account at the time you request a switch and (2) they delay refunds as long as they can. They must now refund within a maximum of eight weeks of a switch or automatically pay compensation. Recent posts suggest they still wrongly block transfers if your account is in debit.
