They appear here, too, providing that I tell CEC that my current supplier is other than AVRO.

It used to be said that the best search engine for getting an initial overview - but not for switching itself - was the Energy Helpline. I don't know if Avro & co have made it to their listings and if there is a way to find out.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Energy Helpline powers the Citizens Advice comparison site. The difference is that the CA site doesn't default to showing only suppliers that pay commission. The CA site states that "No one compares more UK energy suppliers", so that's the one to go to first.Telegraph_Sam said:It used to be said that the best search engine for getting an initial overview - but not for switching itself - was the Energy Helpline. You need to select "Show me all generally available plans".

Okay. Did that and, as if by magic, Avro is actually listed. I set my current supplier as BG on standard variable.Gerry1 said:

It would seem then that Avro is insisting that its current customers change tariff directly with Avro and not through comparison sites.

Quite reasonably, Avro, who are by far the most generous supplier when it comes to extending or changing one's AVRO tariff, can't afford to be so generous to us AND give CEC a backhander.I'm with AVRO on this one. ...

Consumerist said:It would seem then that Avro is insisting that its current customers change tariff directly with Avro and not through comparison sites.Seems to be the case because if you say you are supplied by Avro it will then hide all Avro tariffs from comparison results. If you select 'Order Results by > Tariffs from > My Current Supplier' it then says "We were unable to find any tariffs of this type. You can amend your filters to reveal more tariffs.".Similarly, if you've told them that you're supplied by Avro, then presumably the CEC won't alert you if Avro launches a cheaper tariff. So once again, the CEC just doesn't do what it says on the tin. It's understandable that Avro don't want to pay cashback to an existing customer switching to a cheaper tariff, but the CEC should just use a 'Go To Site' non-cashback link instead; there's no excuse to keep users in the dark.1
