It would also seem that CEC is telling porky-pies by saying that Avro does not notify them of new tariffs. So CEC is not a WHOLE OF MARKET comparison as it is claiming. I don't know whether Advertising Standards might have something to say about that.

Perhaps, CEC is not "claiming" to be a whole-of-market comparison site but it certainly seems to be leading its members to believe it is. Underhand or what?

This begs the question as to why CEC is shutting out its members in this way.Which other supplier tariffs are available but are being deliberately hidden from CEC members?Fighting our corner? I'm not so sure.

Usually there are official "moderators" or some such who monitor threads such as these and from whom one would have expected to hear the official CEC party line, unless this is a tender point. But possibly in favour of CEC, at least it makes some attempt at a qualitative assessment ("could do better") which I don't know if the Cittizens Advice people do. When the claimed differential savings between one supplier / tariff and another amount to only a few £££'s per year, then differences in customer service levels become relatively all the more important and should be highlighted.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -

e.g. do a comparison via USwitch and then get a quote direct from Avro.
The best deals haven't paid cashback for quite a while now and CEC is rubbish if you actually want to get the best deal.

At the end of the day - if a supplier isn't proving a comparison website with their rates, they're the ones loosing out on customers.
It's always best to check multiple comparison websites though.
There's a number of suppliers not on comparison websites currently (or at least Uswitch):
Bluegreen Energy
Twenty Energy
Good Energy
Ecotricity
PFP Energy
Avro currently have the cheapest fixed tariff in most regions so definitely worth considering at the moment for price focused people.0 -
