Does anyone know why AVRO doesn't show up in the Cheap Energy Club.... we have been with them for years and sometimes AVRO's new tariffs are better but the Club doesn't show them.  Have I missed something?
They only supply dual fuel, so no results if you only select one.  Also make sure the filters are set for All Tariffs, All Suppliers, All Customer Service Ratings and Dual Fuel.  Also try the Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?' sites to see suppliers such as Neon Reef that MSE/CEC omits.

An earlier post reported that Avro doesn't advise CEC of new tariffs. I think Ofgem recently changed the Confidence Code (on advice by the CMA) so that suppliers have more freedom to pick and choose which comparison sites they want their tariffs to appear on.

  • This is bordering on the dodgy. I thought that who appeared where with what tariffs was totally objective.  Why should for example  Neon Reef NOT appear on CEC if their tariffs warrant inclusion??  One step away from paying (or not) to be listed ???

I think the only comparison site which suppliers are required to notify of tariffs is <Citizens Advice> who currently do not actually switch you from their site - you have to go direct to the supplier.
Bear in mind that CEC is not Ogem accredited so doesn't need to follow the Confidence Code anyway.
CMA has used the excuse that most people who use comparison sites for energy switching use more than one comparison site anyway.

Haven't checked all of the sites lately, ,but the default, on most of them, used to be " companies we can switch you to" - ie the ones who paid commission !

Probably because not all suppliers are on every comparison site!  However, I suspect only savvy money savers do that. The majority probably use the single site that advertising led them to and, worse still, don't click the "include tariffs that don't give a kickback" button.

Ofgem accredited sites must "prominently" display a link to the Citizens Advice site if they don't cover the whole of the market.
Not sure how that pans out if suppliers don't submit all tariffs to all sites. :/

I think they must have shown them at some point as I’m sure that’s how I ended up with them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes they did, until about a year ago and then Avro seemed to disappear from CEC. There was a bit of a spat between Avro and CEC regarding commission payments. CEC paid cash-back even though Avro (allegedly) didn't pay the commission to CEC.
It seems likely there is a connection between the disappearance of Avro on CEC and their former spat.

Avro have not disappeared.  They're No.6 on my list of CEC results right now.
