Now don't put ideas into AVRO's head.  That would mean three "readings" per month. :)

Well, for the record, I submitted my last readings ON the statement date and they used them to produce the statement.

Yes, that seems to be working for some of us, but not Polymaff.  I have to say, if I were Polymaff I'd be emailing Avro to ask them why they're repeatedly ignoring my meter readings when they're using them for other customers.  But then I'm a bit of a hard a***!

Like I said, there are more serious issues.  Like you said, looks like I'm receiving a unique service. ... :)
At least their arithmetic is fine, and they do carry forward from statement to statement correctly.
My recent (big-six) supplier correctly  carried forward from January to February. Then rendered the March statement using the same carry-forward figures - i.e. January's.  Smart idea - tried to make me pay for February twice.
    Now how could that happen?

Thanks for pointing out this readings anomoly.
Switched to AVRO on the 12th July. All went smoothly, no complaints about that.
Presumably my billing date is the 12th of each month. However, all there is in my account is a submit your readings before the 12th August message.

"Submit your meter readings by the 12th August 2020 and these readings will be included on your monthly bill"

I did that yesterday. It will be interesting to see if those readings are used or based on an estimated use from yesterday to the 12th.
Do they send a reminder e-mail just before the billing date? If so, I'll wait for that next month and submit readings either on the day or just before.

As such, the numbers aren't far wrong, so this odd billing is only an irritation, just a bit unfathomable.  For example, if I submit a reading at around midnight of the day going into my billing date, of say 45632, they'll do an estimate for the actual billing date when billed a few days later, with an estimated reading of 45633.2 - it's a few pennies of difference in the bill (fuel that will, by definition, be included next month) so I end up with a bill with two E readings for the start and end of the month and a C reading for the day before the latter E.  It just seems like an additional process that just isn't needed.

It seems to me that if the reading date shown on the online portal is the same as the statement date then they'll use the reading for the statement, otherwise they will estimate. The estimate is likely to be more accurate if you submit early because the difference is only a few days at most rather than an estimate of usage over a full month if you submit late (or not at all).
It would be interesting to know how they deal with estimated readings which are higher that actual readings received after the 'due' date (i.e. apparent negative consumption).

I can answer that - they work it out just as you'd hope - you end up with a minus number billed. I've got one somewhere, if I can easily find it when I'm back at my desk, I'll post a screengrab.   This isn't the one I had in mind, but it illustrates exactly what you outlined @Consumerist.
