yes machines from 2004 are offered to be modified-was just saying that's the only option after the first year is up
yes the repair is only valid 90 days
customer services are failing to respond to complaints due to the high demand as 5.3 million machines are being taken into account-I'm talking as of now not how some may have got lucky

Yes, but what do you mean by "the repair is only valid 90 days"?

Does the machine burst into flames after 90 days?... or what?

Going through the retailer is not the "only option", you can still contact Hotpoint who will offer the repair or replacement (and several members have already reported that if the machine is less than 1 year old Hotpoint may replace it free of charge - though I admit mileage will vary regarding a "free" replacement machine).

I'd suggest trying Hotpoint first, rather than the retailer whom is likely to argue and cause delays due to not wanting to co-operate.

I'm still not sure what you mean by this?

That's probably because every man and his dog are phoning up to complain. It's been said on here already that a letter is the best way to go.

Probably not the best choice of words given the nature of the issue at hand :rotfl:
  • Registered mine for the fix in November 2015 when the dryer was 2 weeks post 12 months old. I've, just had December 2016 as the date for an engineer to come.
Phoned to see if they could do it sooner, but nope... If I want too have the safety fix sooner I have to pay the £59 for a replacement. 13 months to fix a safety concern is a joke.
    hmmmmmm

    Potential safety concern.

I chose those words carefully. ;)

If the modification fails, surely you understand all these machines will instantly self ignite.

That is the one thing I have learnt from this thread. ;)

Have a good look through this thread, with a little effort you should be able to get a free new exchange machine.

Have a good look through this thread and tell us how often you have thanked the troll and all their AE's?

I don't spend my time here looking for so called trolls like many of you, he/she did say some sensible things at first. I then kept out of it and left the attack to you lot.

I believe The-Truth is the banned MoneySavingKing, but that doesn't concern anyone because he likes to attack me and that's fine.

You didn't have to look very hard to see He/She was a troll, I had a quick glance at their posting history before all of this even started and it was full of questionable things.

He/She had a spectacular meltdown last night, admitted to never even owning a Hotpoint machine and admitted to having previously posted to this thread under several different usernames - then went on some potty tirade following my around to other threads to de-rail them.

They got hilariously wound up to me calling them "dearie" and obviously winding him/her up more than he/she wound me up then seemed to just disappear into the either.

A few hours later and the mods had deleted all his/her posts.

That's not fine, obliviously we don't see eye to eye on this thread however nobody should feel "attacked" - perhaps you should have a word with the MSE forum team?
  • Vikesh - modification not a fault. This is what they said to me. I said that they had sold goods unfit for purpose so their replacements ought to be free, not reduced in price.

They said it is not a fault. This is ridiculous.
