Any chance people can let us know the date they contacted Hotpoint, the make/model of the dryer, the approx date Hotpoint contacted them, what they were offered and when the repair or replacement was completed?
This might be useful to those of us who are still waiting, so we can maybe negotiate if we aren't happy with what's being offered.
I'm still waiting after more than 8 weeks.

    I'll repeat my earlier post

I had a 7 year old Indesit, contacted Hotpoint/Indesit a day or so after contact details were published. Received a phone call just after Christmas offering free condensing Whirlpool replacement, which was delivered on 11 Jan.

Just had a call from Hotpoint after i contacted them via twitter.
They say they've tried to contact me 5 times since the beginning of December - each time during the day on a weekday on my home phone (they also have my mobile number).
They "aren't allowed" to leave messages, and i should have also been emailed - i haven't!
The guy said it would be towards the end of April before i could get an engineer visit but he wasn't able to give an exact date.
It was basically a totally pointless phonecall as he had no authority to do anything and just told me that i should expect another call 'soon' from the booking team.
This lot are a bunch of clowns.

    I should ignore them then.

Go out and buy a replacement machine tomorrow - that'll teach them!

Same here. I took to writing to them at the complaints department. I got a call from some guy in a call centre who couldn't do anything but tell me to wait, last week it was by the end of January, now it is the end of February. I pushed him for something to be done. He spoke to his manager, who then said "We keep missing you" pretending to have called when they have not and then booked a modification, apparently pushing it through just for me!

However after thinking on this for 24 hours I have written back to cancel this appointment and informed them I only want a replacement. I am not sure I can trust a modification given what I have read in the papers about cowboy engineers. Also delivery of a new model takes less than 5 minutes, modification takes approx. an hour and I do not feel I should give up my time for them, when they are at fault.

Two friends have been affected as well. One got a replacement last week. The other a modification, I was there when the repair man was doing it and I was shocked to see all the fluff near the heating element, no wonder there is a fire risk, and my friend always cleans the filter when she has used it.

I should also add both friends registered online 5 days after I did!

Why should we have to buy a replacement when we have been sold a product with a fault.
