Hotpoint urgent tumble dryer recall

Was offered an inferior spec model for £59. Don't think so; we'll get the old one repaired.0

Well my free replacement arrived yesterday. Very pleased with it. Compared to the 7 year old model it was replacing it has a lot more options on it, its more economic and has a bigger capacity. A very smooth switchover. The delivery drivers said their company were swapping 80,000 machines over.0

Hi,
Just to chip in here.
We registered in november and were contacted in Jan with a date for repair, I'm not happy with this due to the safety concerns.
Were you all initially offered a repair or was a replacement offered on their first response.
As they missed two appointments i cracked it open to assess it for continued use. I'd say in all honesty that we won't be using it until it is replaced! There is more fluff on the inside than I have ever removed from the filter!
I can't post pics but id happily send a link for reference.

ReplacementIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Mine is getting the fix done tomorrow, I'm totally happy with this as I've been using it in ignorant bliss anyway so as long as it's made safe I don't see the need for a new one.0

First response was a repair, then they gave a date of May for the repair or a replacement.0

Any chance people can let us know the date they contacted Hotpoint, the make/model of the dryer, the approx date Hotpoint contacted them, what they were offered and when the repair or replacement was completed?
This might be useful to those of us who are still waiting, so we can maybe negotiate if we aren't happy with what's being offered.
I'm still waiting after more than 8 weeks.0 -
I reported mine on 24th November and given a five week waiting time, heard nothing for a while but spoke to an engineer who explained the delay.
I got another email last week (so around 7 weeks after reporting) to say there are delays and they will be back in touch soon.
A friend reported hers a week after mine and hers is one from 2011, she has an extended warranty on it and phoned a few days ago to report a different fault and explained she is also waiting for the safety repair so they will be out to repair both issues Friday for her. They agreed it would be pointless to fix just one of the issues just to rearrange a repair for the second.0 -
New tumble dryer recieved today, no charge, no questions asked and that was after me rejecting a modification date0

I'm on the phone at the moment. I haven't been offered a new machine 😓
