Stores that DON'T accept contactless payments - name and shame!

I disagree. Adults should have the wherewithal to keep control of their possessions. If I put my card back in my wallet and that into my pocket I won't drop it on the street. Failure to do either of those simple things ranks as stupidity to me.
One of the key advantages (and selling points) of a card over cash is that losing your card should not lead to a financial loss.0 -
I have lost my wallet in the past. I'm fairly sure that I was pick pocketed but regardless, I did lose a wallet. It was a long time ago and I lost around £50 cash but nothing on any cards.
Dementia is a dreadful disease and I don't intend to make light of it but once someone develops it then serious consideration has to be given as to whether, for their own good, they should have access to cards of any description.0 -
I don't get the "Name and shame" bit - I don't care about contactless and TBH am not convinced about it.0

More bad news for those who love C&P. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/bank-accounts/12005149/Pins-obsolete-within-five-years-and-pay-with-mobile-or-fingerprints-instead.html0

Can someone spell out what the advantages of contactless payment are please?
Obviously it doesn't really save any time - I mean, how long does it honestly take to type in 4 digits on a keypad? Less than a second. It may save a fraction of a second by swiping a card but is that honestly a real advantage?
Try it/see it in action in a chain coffee shop and you'll see. Costa Coffee is BLAZING now with it. next, next next next..... no fumbling for cards/apps/cash.
ping and you're off.0 -
I have to agree that it is quicker. Generally it doesn't make much difference but the time when speed helps is at a bar. I wouldn't use chip & pin in a packed pub out of courtesy to those waiting to be served but contactless is quicker than cash. It doesn't sound long but if you're gagging for a pint and you have to wait 5 extra seconds for someone to pay by card it seems an eternity.0

Is it 'shameful' not to offer contactless? If so, is it also 'shameful' not to take AmEx or, indeed, to not take credit cards at all? Should we be 'naming and shaming' these firms?
Mind you, if we did, it might be a pretty high percentage of the total number of retail outlets...0 -
When the banks are trialling 80 different technologies, chances are it will take them a lot more than 5 years to settle on one that actually works and increases security.Eco Miser

When was it that cheques were withdrawn? That technology was declared obsolete and about to be withdrawn years ago.
Just opened a company bank account and was given a cheque book.
I've also been sent a cheque book for my personal account, as I've only got about 2 left in the old one. I write probably 2 a week, although I understand that's more than most people. When the banks are trialling 80 different technologies, chances are it will take them a lot more than 5 years to settle on one that actually works and increases security.
True, but at the same time, OH isn't able to use a contactless card in the UK, because for some reason some C&P machines abroad don't like it.
She works for an airline, often involving nightstops in a number of countries, so having cash in the currencies she deals with (which is never Euros/US Dollars) isn't an option.💙💛 💔0 -

Help? lolWhen you get to the contactless reader hold your iPhone near the terminal. Your credit card will appear. Just put your registered finger on the Home Button and it'll vibrate and make a ping sound.
Alternatively double click the Home Button when the phone is locked. Your card will appear. Put your finger on the Home Button and it'll be ready for payment for up to sixty seconds (handy on the Tube!)
Worth noting that you don't need to keep your finger on the home button once authorised. When I'm in a busy pub, for example, I often authorise then grip the phone so there's no chance of it being knocked out my hand. Touch ID is so fast on the 6s/6s plus that I don't need to hold my finger there at all. (Make sure your phone isn't on silent so you can hear the satisfying ping!)0
