I always remember people tutting when you paid by card as it took so long dialling out and getting an authorisation. Now it is the other way round, paying by cash takes so long compared to contactless0

They cannot possibly have the same level of security as chip and pin.
You are absolutely correct.
They don't have the same level of security as chip and pin, for the user they have a better level of security. If I lose my non-contactless card in the street, no one can use it without knowing my PIN.
Unless the person behind you in the supermarket queue saw it, or a family member, or ...If I lose my contactless card in the street, someone can use it for tranactions up to 30 pounds.
Exactly.
If you lose your contactless card and it is used to make contactless payments, you simply tell the bank "not me" and they have to prove it was you.
If you lose your chip and pin card and it is used to make payments you have to prove you didn't disclose your pin.0 -
I bought 2 ice-creams during the interval in a theatre. Cost was £5.20 Everybody in the queue was tendering tenners and the theatre was short of change. Contactless card payment would have been so much easier for all concerned...

They only charge silly prices because people will pay them.
I must have started being a money saver ,as a child, as I refused to buy a small tub of ice cream (from the lady with the tray hanging from her neck) on finding the price equivalent to that of a large 'block'.
£5.20 would almost buy two containers of supermarket icecream, or one premium brand ,with change.0 -

True about the silly prices. £2.50 each rather than £2.60 would have helped the change and speed of service situation.
I tried supermarket ice-cream but it melted on the way to the show.0
