But you don't loose any money because the bank will refund any fraudulent transactions.

Maybe but the thief has essentially got the goods for free. Someone will end up paying for this.

Plus you have the hassle of going through statements, then making phone calls claiming back. My feeling is that doing this will cost for more time than the tiny fraction of a second in time saved by not entering a PIN.

My local post mistress says on a few occasions they have had contactless fraud, scratch cards tend to be bought, as if they get lucky on an instant win they can turn it into cash pretty instantly.

Again, this is personal choice, but contactless is not cost free and does leave the gate open for low level fraud.

I probably spent more time on these last 2 posts than I ever will save by not typing 4 digit PIN codes on a keypad...!

I love my contactless cards and even better using Apple Pay. At last my local Tesco is now contactless.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

If I lose my non-contactless card in the street, no one can use it without knowing my PIN.

Thats debatable. Tricking a card machine into thinking the chip is broken and letting you swipe it is also easy, especially at self checkouts where you can swap the card before an attendant comes to check the signature.

You can add Matalan to the list of stores that doesn't accept contactless. Shop like it's 2003 people!

I imagine that they sell very few items that cost under £30, so having a new system is not cost effective for them.

Clearly, you don't shop at Matalan:cool:.

In fact they sell very few items that cost over £30.

I go to Argentina from time to time and am constantly frustrated on how painful card payments are there. You need to present ID for these transactions - typically an Argentine DNI card, or for foreigners a passport (some places will accept a UK driving licence but others don't). Then you have to copy the document number down onto a slip of paper and sign it, even if you used your PIN. I wonder what their card fraud rate is like - would be interesting to compare.

Anyway, I much prefer being at the UK's end of the convenience spectrum.

And to be honest you should be checking your account regularly whether or not you have contactless payments enabled - fraud can take many forms.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

I love contactless, but appreciate that others do not. That's their privilege and I don't think making staements that they are wrong, will dissuade them.

My OH would not have a contactless card until she saw me using mine. Up until that point, the weekly shop was: I pack, OH pays with C&P. Now I still pack, but OH pays contactless in 2 or 3 lots, as I work out 'on the go' how much each item is and have it divided as we get to checkout. Sounds complex, takes no time if you get used to it.

And I pack because I am the organised one and she prefers it that way.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Mine is very stressful to use, as I'm always wondering if it will work without the PIN (often doesn't).

I don't find it saves much time, so when TSB's offer ends I'll use chip and PIN again.

I'm finding I'm unable to use my Lloyds branded AmEx in Tesco with Apple Pay.

Reads my iPhone then I'm prompted to insert my card.
