You must get a special rate of 10% cashback then to get 5p back from a 45p purchase!.
Oppps made a faux pas :rotfl:
Well its still cheaper with TSB contactless - Every Little HelpsSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
So I assume you never carry cash either?. Imagine your wallet full of £100 of cash then a pickpocketer steals your wallet and your loose your £100. You have no way to get that money back and it's gone forever.
Compare that to contactless then you can ring your bank and get it all back. I know which option I prefer!
But I have never heard of anyone skimming cards and stealing money. There is a hole load of reasons that it wouldn't work plus you have to consider that any money they steal is traceable and they will be caught!. It's just a scare story that you have fallen for!
In regards to loosing track of expenditure... well that's just due to your own self control and budgeting skills and can be an issue with any payment type.
Good analogy and explanation. Also as other people say. If the bank pay you 3% or 5% to use it why not.Tigsteroonie wrote: »Seriously????
I hate contactless. I hate the idea that someone could be stood next to me on the tram, skimming my card. I hate the idea that I will have to resolve that, in my own time, by phoning the bank. I dislike the idea that it can now be so quick to pay for something that I lose track of expenditure.
But mostly I hate the fact that my bank gave me no choice in the matter, short of downgrading my account. Yes I am a luddite.
TBH I get very surprise this comment come from a very senior member with 52,672 thanking. Are the thanking coming from a finance decision or other areas??0 -

The amount of people on here who cannot spell 'losing' is a little worrying!'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).
Sky? Believe in better.
Note: win, draw or lose (not 'loose' - opposite of tight!)0 -
I saw another complication to contactless the other day: there was a notice saying please only place the card you intend to use on the reader; I guess if you have two in your wallet it might read the wrong one, mis-read, or something.0

Yes, Munchies & Suspenders had loads of issues with this a few years back, the terminals software was probably too sensitive for the chip reader. Customers were not even putting a card close in some cases and other contactless cards were checking out.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I have an annual travel card to cover zone 1 and 2 in London. But I sometimes top up my Oyster card for occasional travel outside Zone 1 and 2. I am fully aware that I can not use contactless payment in ticket machines.
I just wonder if any place such as tube / ticket ticket offices in London that accept contactless payment ?? Any info / lead will be very much appreciated ...
However, I'm not sure that either can do Oyster top-ups at the counter anymore. This was always done at a separate terminal in the corner of the office, which often had a different chip and PIN machine. I think most TOCs have now parted with Oyster services at ticket offices.0 -
I use contactless/Apple pay all the time
I have used it in
KFC
Works canteen
Weatherspoons
Unit 17/Vodka Revs (Night Clubs)
Greggs
Game (But most games are rip of prices & over £30)
would use it in Sainsbury's/boots/Wilkinson's/CEX If they offered it
Sainsbury's are going to be updating their EPOS software next month to enable contactless. Depending on who replies (via Twitter) some are saying it's going to be a trial in select stores and others suggest a national rollout.
I've used contactless in Boots for a long time now. I rarely shop in Wilkinson's but they tend to be ahead of others; they were the first shop I ever used Chip & PIN in before it was compulsory. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

What utter rubbish
In your enthusiasm to defend the card you appear to have got carried away .....or just sitting there with your fingers in your ears not wanting to hear that like every form of payment there are always risks.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

So you manage to dodge the grimy bacteria-ridden handle of the shopping trolley (who knows who had it before you that day); the grimy bacteria-ridden item from the shelves (handled by the stock person and potentially at least one other customer); etc etc ... I could come up with more examples but life is too short.

If you're that paranoid then why don't you just shield the card - either with a protective wallet or the low-tech method of wrapping it in foil?0
