British Gas Collective Fix December 2016

I did the BG "Collective Fix December 2016" for an elderly relative. It went through and the £30 cashback appeared recently. The new tariff is showing on the PDF version of her bill. But it's really difficult to see the monthly or per unit saving, you have to get various bills and a calculator out to do this. What is obvious is that despite quite a large percentage saving per MSE - e.g. 15% ish, BG are blithely still taking exactly the same direct debit amount.
After setting up the above some months ago, I joined the Cheap Energy club on my own account - I'm with Coop and the savings are not quite large enough to switch yet. But I cannot find any record of the above BG one I did for the relative. Can't even remember what email address I used - nothing in my Inbox.
When will the cheap energy club offer multiple addresses on one MSE account, so people who have Power of Attorney can manage more than one energy supplier in one place?
Hi buglawton, we review Direct Debit payments every 6 months and will take account any changes to the tariff and usage at that time. I can totally understand if you'd prefer not to wait and I'll be happy to check the payments now. Please just pop your details to talktous@britishgas.co.uk, including your MSE username & MSE Forums in the subject heading. Cheers, MattI am the official company representative of British Gas. Hi buglawton,
This is something we're looking into - so thanks for the feedback
If you need help finding the Energy Club account that you'd switched your relative from, you could drop us an email at energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com with more details and we'll have a look for you.
When you switch to a tariff with the same supplier, the costs you see on comparison sites are the amount you would be paying on the new tariff given your usage doesn't change. Suppliers don't automatically change your direct debits for you. Whilst you're charged at the new rates of the tariff you switched to, your direct debits should be reviewed at your next direct debit review (as set out by your supplier).

I have done as you asked and sent details. Was waiting for a promised call back from your complaints dept who are looking into this. Have just had call and told there is a problem with your system which for some unknown reason keeps cancelling the Electricity account, but not to worry as it will eventually be sorted out! ( I now have 3 Electricity accounts showing online, none of which I can access).
Not really good enough, but I will wait, as I've been assured that I won't lose out and the tariff will be backdated to when it should have changed over.
No doubt a cheaper fix will be out by then!0 -
So I guess we're all switching to the Collective Fix February 2017 now?!? I've done by switch on the cheap energy club but haven't received any notifications and the energy club hasn't updated so looks like I'd be able to do it again. Would anyone from MSE be able to check it went through ok?0

It can take a few hours when the site is busy to get the confirmation email on CEC - as long as you saw the 'thank you confirmation page' online we'll have this and will shortly be locking your account (no need to resubmit).
If you don't get this tonight, drop us an email to collectiveswitch AT moneysavingexpert.com and we'll check this out for you.0 -
Thanks Dan, looks like it's locked down now0

I can't believe MSE are going with British Gas after the Sainsbury's Energy debacle a year ago!
It has taken me a year to sort out the mess British Gas (aka Sainsbury's Energy) made of the switch and now am moving away from them never to return!
They even promised me a whole £20 for the inconvenience - which of course never materialised.0 -
Lets hope I get the cash back from the switch this time as I'm still waiting on the last one after it didn't get paid due to British Gas requesting a deposit which was subsequently cancelled following a complaint as I was an existing customer on Sainsburys at the time0

Whilst MSE Martin always says cashback is never guaranteed until it actually lands in your bank account, I feel he would struggle to deny cashback for a switch to the MSE Big Switch tariff ... as the only way you can get the tariff is via the CEC site (or possibly Moneysupermarket which is the same comparison service and who actually pays the cashback).
Did you ever follow up why you didn't get the cashback you were entitled to?
Or didn't you end up with the Big Switch tariff?0 -

Why didn't you follow it up if you could prove they promised you £20?
I've done something similar in the past and got another £20 for them (whoever the supplier was) failing to pay the £20 they promised :money: i.e £40 in total0
