Oh dear, in an act of monumental stupidity Microsoft is going to automatically download W10 to your machine from next year and bombard you into upgrading. This will not end well, expect an increase of support calls and a flooded MSE techie forum.

    Why are microsoft doing this?

Surely it is up to individual users if they want and are happy to have an older tried and tested op system they should be allow to continue.

There must be lots of people still with and happy with Win 95 & 98?

I am a little suspicious this is a back door into charging

You should always remember that some on this board hate to be trendsetters and like to see all the bugs ironed out before upgrading to something. Sadly Win 3.1 still has some issues so many here are sticking with 3.0 for the time being having had their fingers burned when they moved on from Windows 1.0 before 3.0 was stable.

Looking back n on w don't see what the big fuss is w10 is better than w7 in every possible way. It has more features and seems to use less resources too.

Everyone is a special snowflake with a reason why their worlds will end with windows 10 - but it's actually very good.

And you believe that all the bugs are ironed out of Win 95 and lots are using it. I think you had better ease off the medication.

I see what you're saying, but that's like driving around in a Datsun Cherry - ancient, worn out, almost certainly unsafe and full of holes, and crap in the first place. And for good measure, it's infected with rats :-$

The whole '95, '98, 'ME line was killed off for a reason, they're extremely insecure. They couldn't be patched enough to make them secure. They've been abandoned. They're all 15-20 years old, and haven't been sold on machines since then. Tony Blair was still a good thing back then. Ancient.
