Has anyone tried to reinstall a RETAIL DVD of Win 7 back on after 6 months of running Win 10
Will it activate or not ?
ie) Have we burnt our bridges by installing Win 10 ?
I was told (prior to August 1st 2015) by an MS rep on an MS forum - that There would be no time linit to a restoration of an original retail install.......0 -

But I don't need any more resources or features.
Imagine if someone knocked on your door and said 'I am from the council, I know you like it here, your used to it, comfortable and your friends all live nearby but we are evicting you to a newer house a few miles away, it has better wall insulation and more cupboards, you will get it comfortable again in time and find new friends in your new street, its for your own good, OK?'
something ..off! would probably be most peoples answer.0 -

I think your views are 2 months too late, and your analogy is a bit overreaching.
Windows 7 (and possibly windows 8 - i have no direct experinence) no longer informs/notifies you of the free w10 update. On the last two laptops I wanted to upgrade I had to google the w10 page to locate the update link.
No doubt when the free update ends in June there will be people on here complaining that they were denied their right to free upgrade by evil MS0 -
Probably because MS are changing their policy so that win10 is no longer something you need to opt into but something that will automatically be in the recommended updates.

Does "THE SYSTEM" actually check for compatibility (H/W and S/W) with Win 10 - before downloading the files ?0

Nope, it will download itself and prompt you to upgrade on entirely incompatible systems. I have an older Vaio that has some fancy internals including a proprietary internal graphics system which Sony never supported past Windows 7 however it still gets the prompts to install Windows 10.

And if they persist in trying to infect your device with this virus - someone ought to sue them ??0
