Before they know it, MS could be forcing people onto Linux.:rotfl:

Just to be clear, these are the Windows updates that need to be uninstalled (if indeed they are already installed) to prevent Windows 10 nagging and background download ...
Windows 7 Machine ...
KB3035583
KB2952664
KB3021917
Windows 8/8.1 Machine ...
KB3035583
KB2976978
and change Windows Update settings from Automatic to Notify Me ... then you have a chance to clobber these updates if they show up again.
Of course, knowing how unscrupulous Microsoft is, they'll probably reintroduce this unwanted garbage under different update numbers in due course. You have to keep on your toes.... Thought I had managed to make it go away but a nag appeared in updates again, at least it was in optional updates though and I have hidden it (again) :mad:0

Which KB was that I wonder ... I've not seen any nags resurfacing in updates.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
MS are getting very persistent - I wanted to get a copy of windows movie maker, but it then over-rode my update settings, and started downloading various updates without asking if they were wanted.
I had to switch off the machine to interrupt the process, reboot in safemode, go into services to disable the installer and change my update preferences back the way I want them.
I have a W7 machine, which runs a number of programmes not compatible with later Windows versions, and which is a backup machine for a non-internet enabled computer (strange way round, but that works for me).
I don't want it updated, and feel MS should acknowledge that fact.
When I have assurances that all the software and peripherals I want to run will be compatible with 10, I will probably buy a computer that runs it.
Until then I will stick with 7.0 -

There is a handy tool called GWX control panel, which will search and remove all traces of windows 10 and therefore stop all the nagging to upgrade
