Really, that simple? I had a river cottage reciepe that involved carnation milk and heating to a very high temp.i just found it split every time.

Bank letter was totally unexpected, never have insurance. Many years ago when OH was facing redundancy I was appalled that pregnancy (was expecting DS2) invalidated the insurance and moreover was in the same sentence/ category as drug and alcohol addiction. When DS2 was 6 months old OH was made redundant and we had to set up our own business before he could go contracting (so that agencies could not be liable for NI etc) and this also stopped us being eligible for card/loan insurance payouts so automatically declined it ever since.

Mothernerd I am so pleased for you getting a cheque how awful to be treated like that. Treat yourself

Today did some food shopping, bought wallpaper(not in my budget)
Grateful I had £5voucher off homebase in post.
Painted ceiling 2 coats and boy did my arms ache this am after yesterday's stripping. Then undercoating done and just finished glossing about hr ago. Should sleep well.

Not sure my arms will cope with sanding walls and wallpapering tomorrow.

Happy news today my eldest daughter has got engaged.

    Grateful for
    1. Enough paint leftover to do the bedroom ceiling and woodwork
    2. Loyalty card McDonalds nice hot chocolate this am free
    3. Having good news for a change

Hello everyone, hope you are all have a good weekend so far.

Boberella- I used cloth nappies on both my children, they do take some getting used to! I also used cheeky wipes which is a washable wipes system and they were fab, and a great way to cut costs. Also used hey diddlelidl and howdyaldi nappies which were fab

Mother nerd- great about that extra money! What a result!

Apple muncher- well done on doing so well on your stall.

Dolly- it's getting so cold now!

I've had a NSD, baked biscuits and cakes for the kids snacks during the week, still fighting with the boiler, no heating or hot water until this afternoon when I reset the whole system, boiler man can't get out into next week but oddly I'm quite calm about it, I thought about the things I have that some in the world do not: a roof over my head, clothes and food and the boiler is just a blip, it will get sorted, lots of layers and blankets and we will be ok for a few days.

Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping, got an amazing deal on one website as midday they started their Black Friday deals and I ended up saving £18 on my order instead of £10! Was very pleased, have bought gifts for my brother and his family and have planned and budgeted for kids, husband and parents.

Off out tomorrow with friends, going for a roast dinner, should be nice.

    Today I am grateful for-
    Food
    Clothing
    A roof

  • Wonderful news on your unexpected windfall Mothernerd x And congrats to your Daughter Calling, my eldest is away in Italy with his girlfriend and newly engaged friends and I think secretly his girlfriend thinks their engagement is long overdue bless her.

Weather has been horrific today, that horrible rain that blows sideways and backwards up a hill, we all went to a local xmas fair today almost everything was free for the kids or very very cheap which was lovely queued for an hour for Santa but the display was so gorgeous they had worked so so hard to make it a fab day for the kids, my son is 9 in a few weeks so we have limited time as a believer left I think..
In work on an overtime shift at the moment the extra cash will go straight into a Christmas card next weekend for my step-son and that will be another present finished.

Things I am grateful for today are, the lovely day and smiling kids faces. My hubby is having a well deserved night out for his mates 40th he's had a tough few weeks in work and a lift into work as its still raining badly.

Broke the corner shop rule today but spent £7 on basics bread, cheese ham but don't feel to bad as I cancelled a £60 Morreesons order so win win there.

Thanks for the congratulations apple, I feel like I'm crawling at the moment but at least I'm still moving in the right direction. Well done on your money making :)

    calling congratulations

mothernerd yay for the cheque, what a lovely surprise. I've had two small cheques for the same reason this year and I know what you mean about crying when you open the letter!

Ended up going out for dinner with my friend last night so spent again but that is my last spend for the month and my friend kindly drove us everywhere yesterday (3+ hours) using her work fuel allowance :) which saves on petrol that I had expected to use.

Today will be a SFD, going to stay home in this horrid weather and walk the dogs when there is a break in the rain.

mothernerd - fantastic news about your cheque.

calling - congratulations to your daughter.

DS's football has been cancelled for the third week running due to rain,it is really horrible here just now.

Not really sure what our plans for the day are but they will involve filling my car up with LPG, we have to make a special trip to get this as not many petrol stations do it but it is totally worth it as it is only 49p per litre.
