This mild weather was a blessing in terms of electricity bills so far. We pay 70 for gas and leccy just now by DD and are still 130 in credit (usage is maybe 85 just now). Might just get through the worst of it without a DD increase.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Dolly - definitely a place you don't want to work in! I assure you that not all schools are like that!
thrifty - I was thinking the same thing about the mild weather. We haven't even had any frost yet, and today has been the first day I've really needed a coat.
Today was my food shop day, and because I had the car, I bought plenty more than usual (as I wouldn't have to carry it all home) yet it still only came to 54 in aldee and 9 in sainz. Happy apple.
I took another bag of things to the Sally Army and had a hunt for some specific fabric - got it for £1.
I drank my water this morning and have managed my 500 kettlebell swings.
Today I am grateful for finding the fabric I wanted, for collecting dd from school, for getting my shopping for a good price, for the weather finally turning, for dh being home from hospital and recovering.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Oh dear dolly, what an awful day. I know every school will not be the same but our admin staff do work work slightly staggered shifts between 7.30am and 4.30pm. I have never heard of pupils interviewing admin staff before, they definitely do for post-holder positions (like heads of year or headteachers) but I don't think they even do it for 'normal' teacher positions.
Today has been another SFD(number 9)
I am grateful for:-
1.) It being Friday and having the next two days off (although will be working at home as usual on Sunday)
2.) Lovely friends, family and colleagues keeping an eye on me more than usual as they know I am struggling
3.) My cat seeming to be ok even though he has a hole in the side of his cheek (not sure if he's been fighting, hunting or got caught on something sharp). I have cleaned it as well as I know how so will keep my fingers crossed that he does not get an infection.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Evening all x Hope a little luck flies through the turtles homes as lots seem to be having it tough right now x
Calling- so glad that fella was ok, and he had his lovely dog for company. This weather has knocked many of us out of our warmer than usual lull, awful hail storms in Cardiff this morning, but was treated to the most beautiful vibrant rainbow I have ever seen on the way home.
Today has been a ridiculous spendy day but everything has been bought using codes and cashback sites to get best deals, we ordered a cooker out of dire need to be honest and had £40 off original price, free delivery and a £10 voucher for spending over hundred at argws. And we ordered a new fridge freezer as ours leaks badly again had a good deal we could have waited on the fridge freezer but my work has been horrific last few weeks and things are getting more stressed by the week I am desperately underpaid and do far more than paid for any day but the stress recently is making me ill so we are working out how we can recoup £200 a month so I can give a shift up a week and go down to 3 shifts a week or I will end up just finishing and we really can't afford that. So all white goods are newish no huge bills expected, so MSE is now going to be my new hobby not shopping.
So my weekend frog to sort is getting shot of sky and seeing how cheap we can get internet we aren't bothered really about sports channels etc so are paying £70 a month for nothing, this alongside one less evenings childcare will just about cover my lost income, and hopefully now I will stop moaning on. Sorry !!
Popped into town today to spend some vouchers in primarni got a few stocking fillers and bits but nothing really caught my eye. picked up some heavily reduced games on my xmas list from the Entertainer def worth a look if looking for some bits for kids. Got one more wall to strip but that can wait til tomorrow I am shattered and hopefully get a coat of paint on over the weekend, I can't believe its Christmas in just a few weeks it so doesn't feel Christmassy anywhere I have been even with shops ramming it down our throats.
My 3 things today are 1/ The beautiful rainbow. 2/ A day off work. 3/ Hubby supporting me and offering to carry the strain financially for a few months while I look for a new job.
Challenge wise, £5 going to Children in need, plus extra for dress up day in school. No coffee shops or venders and only milk and quavers in corner shop as I am avoiding doing a big shop for as long as poss. £5.65 transferred over from quidco into the =£80 fund. Cooker paid for from overtime money I earned and probably wouldn't have had otherwise. And Fridge from savings and money back from returning a scooter to argws. Put back a bottle of perfume in primarni as have some to use up, and all meals from home again.
Sorry for mammoth post I have a terrible habit of having to be totally accountable for spending joint cash funds, think it's from being totally skint and living off the social security many years ago, guilt is awful even though I do work hard too.. x Night all xNST October #24.

Big turtle hugs for everyone.
Spendy day but now have more cough medicine (too late to make it to the doctor's), 6 months supply of vitamins (1 for £3.50, 2 for £5, best before Aug 2017 so can put them away when I get back on my feet). Added £19 to food spend but actually spent less as some were DS3 requests and he gave me £10 the other day. Eggs were reduced so now have enough to do Christmas baking plus ingredients for next one pot batch cooking.
Today I am grateful for hot baths, black and white films and DS3 sorting out tea.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
LSD - have you spent money this month on things you hadn't budgeted for? If so what were the reasons behind that?
.
I have, but tbh theyre for xmas, which is the issue, that i dont have a xmas budget!
Ive also bought myself some snacks for work even though ive had food with me twice. I never usually done this either. I finish for maternity leave next week, and have been feeling really rubbish with low iron etc which has made me feel awful, hence buying a sugar fix!!
Gave to children in need yesterday.
Took to the charity shop last weekend.
Did a detour on the way to work yesterday to take bread and milk to grandparents who are both really unwell.
Money made - Ive made over £120 this month selling a few bits, which is great, and also had the £100 cheque for swapping bank acts sent to me yesterday, and £12.99 from a t0pc4shback offer. Waiting for my £100 sainnsbobs voucher to be sent from bee tee.
Xmas wise i ordered ds a portable dvd last night, it was £49 but i doubled up mr.t vouchers so it was free.
Ds woke me at 5.15 this morning  which doesnt help my energy levels and how im feeling at all!!
Still got £50 for this week and £50 for next week, so as long as im sensible its not a complete fail, and our cupboards and fridge freezer are full so we can def live off those.Still here..... but working on that!0 -
my 3 things for today
* it is Friday
* hubby home early
* being home sick and not spending anything0 -
Sorry to hear so many of us are having a hard time just now. Hope things pick up soon.
I managed another NSD yesterday so 7/15 achieved.
Did the food shop online this morning as me and OH are both still feeling too rough to face the supermarkets. It came in under budget so planning to move £8 or so to the joint savings account once it's been delivered.
I''m dreading going back to work on Monday. There really is too much to do and when I have time off, it makes me realise that this level of pressure constantly is not for me. 1 year and 10 months left to go in my temporary job, not that i'm counting or anything. After that I'll need a new plan, and the debt needs to be gone by then.
Happy debt busting Saturday everyone. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Morning everyone
Sorry I've been absent, another one feeling low
The youngest, it turns out had a scalp infection for ages. The doctor prescribed a shampoo 2 weeks ago and nothing else. Meanwhile on reading up on the 'net, i found out this could be next to uselesss and have been using apple cider vinegar alonside it. Apparently the tablets that can be used if it is really bad, are not very good for you so, I felt really cross with myself. Cross, because my ex voiced concern and I thought it was scar tissue from when he fell
I'm hoping he'll get better soon
Lsk-please be kind to yourself! You are about to have a baby, you will not be able to fit into a required spends pattern as you will be constantly hungry and your hormones are running riot. Just go with whatever your body requires right now and worry about everything when your settled again
Dolly, I'm so sorry you went through that Fawlty towers experience-what a carry on! Your better off out of it!
Ani-I hope your feeling better soon
GSRCat-no worries (were you MrsGSR previously-if so welcome back ,if not ignore me :rotfl:) I've cried and gone to war over less than 50p I can tell you. I account to the penny now and was very unimpressed when the little one bought a letter home for a zoo trip in a couple of weeks for £5.50 just when I thought I was treading above water
Justforme-goodluck with it all
I too agree that the mild weather has been kind bill wise. My quarterly came to 435.00 for both Gas and electricity, one of the lowest i've had and am very pleased
Sending out hugs to everyone, sorry only red the last page. Take care everyone and have a good saturdayThings I'm grateful for, slight improvement with Ds, Having the day off on Monday and a friend cheering me up yesterday

Morning Turtles
It's freezing cold and pouring here. Little one had a restless start so I was up from around 3 pretty much. Then son came in at 5 saying he had a cold and couldn't sleep. Coffee is my friend today
Popped the baby in the sling and got on with loads round the house. Have now got a lovely tidy and clean dining room which is one of our main rooms we use. Did loads of filing away of rogue paperwork.
Have planned a good using up meal for tonight as there are lots of bits in the fridge.
Son wants to go to TRU to buy some lego with some of his birthday money so well do that once the rain stops a bit.
Don't need to spend anything today ourselves I don't think.
Dolly- I am another adding to the cannot belive how awful that interview sounded. Group interviews are dreadful. Sorry it wasted your time so badly.
Calling - how sad about the old man blown over. I'm glad he was ok and had a loyal dog with him too.
Traveller - thing is you aren't to know are you as a parent about every condition your child has so don't feel bad. You are a great mum.
Hugs to everyone who needs them.
