NST: Standing Firm in November

I've managed to have another 3 NSDs due to being sick this week and off work. Spent on Wednesday getting to the doctor's and back but couldn't be helped. So NSDs 6/15. :j
I've also been eating at home so no lunches bought or trips to the corner shop, the meal plan is working well. :j
Unfortunately I've not managed to get any further forward with the 80 item declutter but I'll be onto it once I'm recovered.
Today I'm grateful for...feeling slightly better than yesterday, my rent deposit being returned to me in full and having a new challenge to sign up for, the 3-6 month EF saving challenge. :j
Is it just me or is this month going outrageously quickly? If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Morning all,
Not a great start to the day, my DD managed to lose 50p of the £1 I gave her for children in need dress up at school day, I was scrabbling around trying to find where it was, how could she have lost it in one place? I had a moment where I thought how has it come to this? That I'm crying over a 50p piece? That was my last amount of money for the month that I had saved for today.
I sound like a spoilt brat and I'm sorry but this month I have made my regular charity donation, £5 to British Legion and have sorted out clothes and toys for donation to a church group as well as baking cakes for a stall at school so I have more than done my bit I feel.
Feel a bit low today, I am wondering where I have gone so wrong to have run out of money so early in the month.
Anyway I am going to put some items on a well known auction site later and try and crunch some numbers.[STRIKE]497.00[/STRIKE][STRIKE] 286.34[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]182.00[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]180.00[/STRIKE][STRIKE] 130.00[/STRIKE] CC1 Paid!!:j

Calling - glad to hear that chap was OK and bless his little dog.
ani*fan - hope you are back to normal quickly.
I'm not sure whether I posted or not yesterday, if I didn't it was because I had the worst day ever. I had a job interview at the local secondary school. I was there for 9.30am and didn't leave until 2pm but I didn't even get an interview. They didn't inform us how long we would be there (which I pulled them up about), there was a computer based test which was so specific to the job I really struggled and it was timed, there was a full tour of the school corridors (couldn't see anything else because students were in lessons). There was a written test too and the absolute worst thing was going into a room with 7 tables, at each table were 2 students, we had to go around the room to each table and answer questions about why we wanted the job, what our skills were, how many disney films we could name, our favourite book etc etc. The kids took notes and then discussed us with the interview board.
I have never felt so stupid in my entire life, especially as one of the kids is a family friend. There were 6 candidates for 1 job and we all had to do these things together which was just awful too.
I couldn't believe that the 5 school staff involved didn't have anything better to do than spend an entire school day doing this process. I was totally fuming - and worse (if possible) they informed us that sometimes the working day would be 7am to 6pm ish, I can't do this due to childcare and would never have applied, this was not on the job description.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Done a big shop yesterday and popped into Lidldiddle to look for a goose but they were sold out (no wonder, 15 quid instead of 35 like in Aldee). But a duck though. Will keep checking now and then. SFD today. Need to make Limoncello tonight as the lemons start to look a but sad. Yesterday I used up the last of our chillies (didn't get that many this year due to weather) and made 2.5 small bottles of chilli oil.
Not doing too well on the decluttering front either. Took DD highchair out of the dining room yesterday, but it can be turned into a little table and chair for the kids room so will keep it. Just got rid of the tray. Will have a tidy of the kitchen tonight. Weather settled again after the torrential rain/storm last night so might go for a walk or run. EDIT it just snowed so I'll stay inside

I budget very tightly too and feel the same way as you sometimes. Just remember charity begins at home, you've already done a lot more this month than most people do for others. Hope you found the 50p.
LSD - have you spent money this month on things you hadn't budgeted for? If so what were the reasons behind that?
I've done my last charity donation for this month. We have given £2 to the poppy appeal (typed poopy first time then:rotfl:), £1 to a charity of schools choosing, £2 to Children in Need.
DS brought home a sponsor form for his football club last night, I will put something on there as this is run just on subs and fundraising and is a fab team and the guys running it give up a huge amount of their time for nothing other than the love of kids football. That is for next month though.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

GSRcat I got caught out this month too as I already bought more christmas presents than planned (all on the list but makes me short this month but will save it next month), had some unplanned spend of 100 quid (triathlon entry, euros for going home). Maybe you had sth similar, a necessary spend you forgot to budget?
Good luck with the auctions and chin up.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Aww Dolly how annoying for you. Can't you complain about wasting your time for a job where the work hrs weren't advertised clearly. How demeaning having children discuss you. No not really, I've had to pay for a few Christmas items but DH assures me he will give me the money back for that. I just don't seem to have anything left over anymore whereas I always used to. I found the 50p, my DS had taken a shine to it and put it in his room :rotfl:thriftylass wrote: »GSRcat I got caught out this month too as I already bought more christmas presents than planned (all on the list but makes me short this month but will save it next month), had some unplanned spend of 100 quid (triathlon entry, euros for going home). GSRcat - the job was in the admin office. No I wouldn't want to work there, in all honesty from what I've seen I'm not sure a school role would suit me at all.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
