Dincanada - my dsd lived in Banff for several years and has now married a Canadian and lives in Kimberley. She got married up in the mountains a few years ago and it was totally stunning! An awesome place.

lsd - sounds like a wonderful day out and about.

NSD 3 now; more kettlebells done, water drunk this morning and I have had another grain and sugar-free day. A few stampers to go to the charity shop as I never use them, so 3/80 items removed. All looking good :D.

I shall have to lose an NSD tomorrow as we'll need milk and dh has hurt his back so I don't want to ask him to buy it on his way home as he's on the bus.

Today I am grateful that my pay has now been corrected so I know how much I have, for good coffee, for a quick journey home, for getting my kettlebells done, for yummy food to eat.

Today i am thankful for coming home to a nice cosy flat after the awful weather. Coming home from work to tea being made and getting to spend the evening sitting on sofa watching movies with my BF.

A NSD. Back started aching when I moved around so tackled easy jobs but made lamb stew, sweet potato mash (8 portions), carrot sticks in fridge, tiny potatoes (for dinners/salad) in freezer. Washed up, rinsed loads of recycling, threw a load of clothes in the washer and gathered lots of rubbish (bin day tomorrow. need to get DS3's rubbish but not sure if he is streaming atm. Have looked for something large and broken as there is lots of space in the bin, but nothing jumping out.

Paid latest bill from evil energy company, but only standing charge. Followed by e-mail, explaining why I am only paying the standing charge. They moved the meter reading date forward (so it had passed when I got round to it) then 'estimated' that an empty house (gas boiler turned off at wall) had used £48 of gas all by itself. Please let the house sale go quickly then I can be rid of them finally.

Congratulations to black cat on becoming debt free.

Today I am grateful for delicious food made for pennies, for a good read and for getting things done.

My 3 things I'm thankful for today are a gentleman gave me a £7 money off voucher in Mr Ms as the coupon had to be used this week and he hadn't spent that much, it stayed dry while we were at Warwick Castle and I had a lovely cuddle with another ex pupil.

It hasn't been a NSD as DS asked me if he could go to the school Halloween disco tonight so seeing as I gave him money for that I thought I may as well go and do the food shopping so still on 1/15

I have done over 10,000 steps again today though so 2/16.

Hope everyone's had a good day

  • NSD no 2 and LTW no 2 today

    I am grateful for:
    1) being home from work earlier than I expected tonight
    2) being organised enough to have brought both my lunch and tea to work today so didn't end up spending money
    3) I don't have to make up a lunch for tomorrow as I am getting a free lunch, yay!

Another quick check in for me tonight - I have a migraine lurking and am desperate to try and get to sleep early. It's only day 2 back at work and I already feel rotten. Never mind.
I can declare another nsd - and I even found £1.01 in roadkill around school today as well so that's ok. Good job because the bank account is already dire.
Today's lunch at work was a ys sarnie that I picked up from Mr M last night :money: And I did my helping other people bit at school. We had a fire drill at work, and everyone had left a student on crutches behind at the top of the stairs - I helped him down and out of the building. I can't believe nobody was trained to used the Evac chair and nobody came to take him outside.
Didn't get much fresh air today - just too busy to be honest. But I have done my 20 minutes of exercise even though it hasn't helped my head. No alcohol though, :rotfl: and dh did all of the jobs I left him for the house, dd made her own packed lunch and I hoovered right through the house and did a load of washing. Still struggling to get ds more involved though.

luckstarr - I'm a teacher. I've found that the longer I am in teaching the less affected by the stresses of day to day life with teenagers. Feel free to ask anything, I'm more than happy to help.

rawdinosaur - ah that sounds like a lovely hobby to have :)

Today has been SFD number 3 :) I have had three fruit and veg, drank a glass of water with every meal and stayed gf (despite the temptation of all the free biscuits at work)

No decluttering yet but that is my mission for the weekend.

    Today I am grateful for;
    1.) Having my own home
2.) The leftover mashed potato I had, which made the base for a lovely meal of cheesy mash, green beans and gravy (is that an odd combination?!)
3.) A good friend texting just to make sure I was ok :)

    Grateful for:
    • Awesome musicians.
    • People that made their way through years of training and help others.
    • That I still have the upper body strength to turn a mattress, even if it does take ages...
There is a pan of veggie food on the hob, cooling; some to be frozen, some for later in the week. I've checked the tins and the contents of the fridge and know what to eat first. Not sure when I'll get my first NSD, may be tomorrow if I don't have to get extra provisions - enough in for me but not for others :D

Welshkitty: completely get the issue with water in cold weather. My suggestion, and what I always do when I have a cold, is to try boiled water, allowed to cool a bit, with a dash of "no added sugar" squash (apple and blackcurrent my preference). I use the double concentrated squash and you really only need a very small amount to lift an otherwise bland glass/cup/mug of water. I find it most palatable and soothing in cold weather. Hope this helps!

Thank you. Don't know why I didn't think of this as I make it for my children when they are cold!
