Some info/feedback:
Mywebcalls = 28p/min UK mobile,
Call2 = rates ok but way more than the betamax products
VoIPCheap (betamax) = great rates but have been experiencing bad call quality phone-phone since recommending it on here and my blog. Probably overloaded now
VoIPfone = 14p/min for Argentina mobile example, UK mobile 12p/min not much savings & can't see mention off callback
I think I'm going to have to setup a Asterix system to call me back. At least with a pincode system I don't need to use callerID to identify and keep adding verified numbers.Apart from the Betamax/Dellmont brands which I believe you're already aware of, there are dozens, maybe more
try Google
I can't recommend several, as I haven't used a lot, but I'd take a look around and compare rates, ease of payment, and variety of callback methods (ANI, SMS, web, etc)
I like the look of Call2, and set up an account, but I haven't actually used it yet. I used to use Voipfone, which was fine. Mywebcalls seems to have been taken over or rebranded, but I haven't tried it since.
There are loads of themOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0 -
Hi
I am going to Ireland for a couple of weeks in the summer and would love to be able to use my smart phone (orange sanfrancisco) for Internet when away, checking emails, looking up attractions etc. I am currently on guff gaff, is there a local alternative that gives payg type service with data allowance that would be easy to get hold of before travel or easily picked up when away
Thanks0 -
Simple and cheap data roaming... The only country this can be done in is Cloud Cuckoo Land0

Thanks
bummer, seems nobody irish here. well,
Google > 'discussions' under more on left side > site:.ie in search box for irish sites along with something like prepay data
or use a search function on an website for expats who have moved to Ireland. search for 'gprs' 'hsdpa' or data
then report back here, editing your post so not to bump the threadOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. I also said try Google.
Clearly I'd be wasting my time and yours if I add any more, especially if 7 or 8 pence is too expensive0 -
I am glad that you had a good experience with this company as along with many others I have had nothing but problems. My issues started with no e-mail of activation details and has from then continued as an utter lack of response from contacts on the web site and e-mail. I really should have known better than to trust a company with no telephone number listed.
Luckily I live near Reading and no response is forthcoming soon will pay them a visit.0 -
Hi all,
I'm off to Miami for 9 days in March and would like to be able to use my iPhone without breaking the bank. I'm not bothered about calls and texts as I can pop my sim back in to send and receive texts but I can use WhatsApp while I'm there anyway if I've got data. Also I can use the data for the GPS and google maps features.
What would anyone recommend for getting a sim to use for data while I'm over there? Preferably something I can have ready to go when we land...0
