The Noddle credit report is as you say a free service but TT are giving customers the chance to sign up for e-mail alerts at no cost, these usually are an add on and cost£20, this was detailed in the e-mail from TT.
As I was already signed up with Noddle I took advantage of the free add on, every little helps and this should advise customers of any "unusual" activity or searches.
yes , but as you know callcredit is the smallest of CRA , and even talk talk don't use them , fobbed off with a very low value product
why not eqiifax or expedion?0 -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34627541:The cyber attack on TalkTalk was "smaller" than originally thought, but customers' bank account and sort code details may have been accessed, the company's chief executive says.
Dido Harding said any credit card details stolen would have been partial.
She added that the information hackers may have accessed would not have been enough to withdraw money "on its own".
This type of fraud is probably the most likely:A solicitor has told the BBC that being tricked into transferring £750,000 of client money to criminals has left her life in ruins.
Sole practitioner Karen Mackie has been suspended from working, declared bankrupt, and faces the prospect of losing her home.
She is the latest victim of "vishing" in which criminals pose as bank security teams.
But I wonder how a solicitor, of all people, could fall for a scam like that.0 -

"
Noddle imho is a reactive system. ie someone has already applied for a loan or instant credit using your personal details.
Can I suggest you read my posting #85 which is a Proactive system, which acts as an indication and warning of a fraudulent application to All those who access your Credit File. Most of all it protect YOU!
Just a suggestion. Take it or leave it.0 -
Punters are furious on TalkTalk's orums.
Well you seem to have got the terminology correct with the word "punters"
Meaning:
a person who gambles, places a bet, or makes a risky investment
That`s Talktalk.

as long as my credit card details arent compromised Im not too worried
Still I guess someone could create a fake direct debit with bank details (like happened to jeremy Clarkson) or do some sort of identify theft with that the other details
Jus wish my bank would email me whenever a new direct debit is set up because nonone is going to remember to keeping checking month after month, year after year - better still they should require a customer to authorise the setup of the DD either via the internet or phone0 -

But you are protected under the Direct Debit Guarantee, whereby any money taken from your account not authorised by you is refunded immediately.
the problem is once scammers have your sort code & account number they can just keep on creating new direct debits forever & whenever they want
see lnk

more devious scammers will wait months or even years before trying to take money from your account & also may take smaller amounts which dont stand out as much
Its all very well saying your can claim your cash back but not everybody will notice cash has been taken0 -
Not read the whole thread, just popping in to say my pensioner uncle had a nightmare last week with scammers who convinced him they were from talktalk.
They gained online access to one of his bank accounts and caused a very difficult situation (ok now). Police involved.
They new all his personal details, talktalk details and bank details.
Wouldn't be surprised if we see group legal action against talktalk at some stage.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -

Yup, and this is why I insisted my uncle go straight back to the bank and insist on all new accounts and a complete block on any activity until it happens.
It's also one of the reasons I have no direct debits whatsoever on my bank accounts. I do have a dd on a prepaid card (Sky) but since there's hardly any money on that and it doesn't link to anything else I don't mind so much.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -
todays update from the talktalk website:
3:30pm - 24/10/2015 - Latest Update
The investigations by TalkTalk and the Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit into the cyber attack continue. We can confirm that the latest update of our investigation is as follows:
- This cyber attack was on our website not our core systems
- We can confirm that we do not store complete credit card details on the website; any credit card details that may have been accessed had a series of numbers hidden and therefore are not usable for financial transactions eg 012345xxxxxx 6789
- TalkTalk My Account passwords have not been accessed
- We now expect the amount of financial information that may have been accessed to be materially lower than initially believed and would on its own not enable a criminal to take money from your account
- The Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit criminal investigation continues
All customers should:
- Sign up to your free credit reporting service using this code: TT231. We have partnered with Noddle, one of the leading credit reference agencies, to offer 12 months of credit monitoring alerts for all TalkTalk customers
- Change your passwords - While TalkTalk My Account passwords have not been accessed, it would be prudent to change your TalkTalk password once this service is back up and running, and any other accounts that use the same password. We will update as soon as services are restored
- Report anything suspicious – Keep an eye on your bank account and report anything unusual to your bank and Action Fraud as soon as possible. Action Fraud is the UK's national fraud and internet crime reporting centre, and can be reached on 0300 123 2040 or via http://www.actionfraud.police.uk
- Stay vigilant - TalkTalk will NEVER call customers and ask you to provide personal details or passwords. Please take all steps to check the true identity of any organisation that calls requesting for personal information. You can call us on 0800 083 2710 or 0141 230 0707.Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -

Not to Hackers I don't.
My sort code and A/c number, with my details could be used to set up another A/c with the same bank, and then a D/c/CC, and view all my other A/c's with that bank.It happens every day.
I use Noddle, I applied for a M/s A/c 3 weeks ago, accepted, after a search done by M/s, as they phoned and told me it had been done, along with other info.
NOT on Noddle yet??But it's with Experian, ;:D
