TalkTalk website hit by cyber-attack

One thing I have learnt over the years is to NEVER use or depend on so called Value Added Services from an ISP.
Use their email and you are dependent on them, hell, these days I would not even use their landline because it is like playing Russian roulette with charges.
Their App was probably identified as a flaw in their security, yet another way they have ALLOWED themselves to be hacked.
So use them for ISP Broadband or Fibre, don't get hooked into their TV, email, Mobile or anything else.
For free calls Whatapp is quite good, I find better quality than Skype, but there are plenty of such apps out there. No need to trust TalkTalk and glad to see you are doing the WalkWalk. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
I was sure that I'd had a letter saying that i was not affected by the security breach, but my details must have been given away as I was called last week by 'one of their technicians'.
I had problems with my broadband which the callers seemed to know about (or maybe they were lucky)? The caller sounded EXACTLY like the TalkTalk man I spoke with the previous day, but there were still problems. Luckily, I clued in and terminated the call before I gave away bank account details, but they had enough to ruin my laptop.
TalkTalk's response is the ignore my emails of complaint - just sending standard 'I'm sorry you've experienced problems with our service' emails. i would advise anyone thinking of joining... DON'T!
Any advice on how to seek compensation and how to warn others?0 -
The scammers are only interested getting your bank details.
They say you`ve been infected via your router, ask you to let them take over your laptop remotely and then show you all the infected files.
They then say they can fix this for you and ask for something like £79.
Of course they then say they need your bank/card details to pay the £79 fee.
I have been getting regular scam calls for over a year since TT was hacked.
Just hang up, but furthermore never, ever give ANYONE your details over the phone or online no matter what story they tell you and say who they say they are.0 -
I also had a letter from Talk Talk saying I was not affected and none of my details were compromised but I have had several scammers phoning me, the last one only a week ago. My details must have been among the ones affected. i dont believe anything they say.0
