Another call today, this time from an Indian Paul.

I blocked the number used on Monday. Today's was similar. Blocked that, too.

When will they run out of numbers?

    Hi there

All of the scam calls I have had ended with the same numbers 78962583, with different prefixes....did you notice if your's were similar?

There`s plenty of threads and info about how the scammers operate to con people out of their details.
The most common being they are from TT and your pc has a virus.
Yep. Neighbour knocked on my door yesterday asking for help as think they had been scammed. Caller had said they were from TalkTalk and even knew their billing number. They got access to both a laptop and desktop via TeamViewer. After a while the penny dropped it was a scam, but not after debit card details had been given. At this point they dropped the call and turned off the router.

So far £150 removed from their bank account and £500 from a credit card. Both transactions have been disputed.

Numbers they call on are meaningless, VoIP and similar numbers can be bought for a dollar a month and are totally disposable.

They can be redirected and with a little coding you can make a number appear to come from TalkTalk itself.

Some loopholes have been closed, like the ability for them to keep a line held when you hang up and call them back on the main number (they remain connected all the time and play you a recording of a line ringing).

The fact is that TalkTalk has become an untrusted brand, if someone calls you from TalkTalk either hang up or play them along if that amuses you.

The fact is they are using your private information which TalkTalk made available by not taking adequate measures to protect it, they are then selling it all manner of scamsters who will try their own speciality of scam.

These guys have a higher conversion rate if they have SOME of your information because they will use it to make themselves sound credible. TalkTalk made their job that much easier.

The idea that they can buy their way out of liability with a few pathetic token "gifts" some of which actually have to be cancelled to avoid charges just show you how arrogant TalkTalk are.
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !

The increase in cyber crime is something we all have to face, so please read on for ways to stay safe online and over the phone.
We recently wrote to you promising you a free upgrade to your package. It was our way of saying ‘thank you’ for standing by us during the recent cyber attack on our website.
Unfortunately the upgrade offer is now closed.

As shortly will be my account too !!
What a disgustingly poor attitude to us poor customers - almost blaming us for the cyber attack by implying that we are responsible !!

People should play TT at their own game. When your contracts up,you should haggle using the hacking of their site and all the hassle it,s caused you to get a good deal and threaten to leave if you don't.They won't want to lose any customers and you should be insistent and if you don't get it ______leave.
