like i said before, you will need to satisfy data protection, by logging onto the talktalk members forum or twitter account for more information
I long ago asked this question on the members forum and received no reply whatsoever.
I posted on here to let others know what a crap service you receive from TT.
As I said earlier the members forum used to be great, where they sorted problems out but now that`s as crap as the rest of the company.
I can`t see what data protection got to do with asking a question about an app.
The rep from topcashback comes on every day and answers members questions so the data protection nonsense is exactly that.0 -
Yes I know that but the purpose of the app is to check your usage more or less instantly not to a*se about for ten minutes logging into your account.
I don,t know if it,s still the case but you could only login to your account from your own landline.
A lot of use if your away from home.
So don,t make anymore excuses or alternatives for TT.
They should get it fixed,it,s gone on too long.
They are not providing the service we are paying for.
They withdrew the app probably due to security issues.
You can logon to your account from anywhere. I do. It doesn't take ten minutes.
I have no issues with TalkTalk and I'm very happy with the service I receive.0 -

Got in touch with talk talk saying my information had been used by someone claiming to be from their company, after numerous phone calls and terrible customer service, I've been sent a standard letter today saying they take no responsibility for me giving any information to a scam caller. I repeat I did not give any details to the caller, he gave them to me.
Has anyone else had this happen to them and can I take it to ofcom or the ombudsman.
Totally stressed out and in need of some good advice as someone has all my details and I need to find out from where it was taken.
You say you didn't "give any details to the caller." I wonder why the scammer contacted you if they already had enough information to withdraw money from your bank account.
How was the money taken?
Direct Debit? Invoke the Direct Debit Guarantee.
A card payment? Contact your bank and report it as an unauthorised transaction.
If you did a bank transfer or dashed to a local shop and bought a Ukash voucher Darwin's Law may apply.0 -
This exactly reflects what other TalkTalk customers have said, someone calls and says they are from TalkTalk, they are challenged and provide credible and accurate information that make it reasonable to believe they are who they say they are.
Some have fooled the consumer by actually asking them not to tell them anything, they quote the card number or part of it and ask consumer to key in the CVV numbers on the back of their card, there was a recording of such a call on You and Yours on Radio4.
Legally it is simple, the fraud was caused by a consequence of TalkTalk failing to adequately protect customer data, the consumer has no liability nor control of how TalkTalk share that data.
We know that in addition to the hack TalkTalk provided data to an Indian call centre and that there have been 3 arrests at that company. There is a data protection issue for allowing data to be accessed outside the EU.
We also know that TalkTalk trade data on 4 million customers with credit reference agencies for a credit refund on their ID checking.
With their obviously lax security and access control arrangements all of these are potentials for theft of customer data and each should carry the £500m fine that the ICO can impose, sadly they will not because since they stood up to "Cameron Minor" over the DWP suicide data they have been told to back off and only speak when they are spoken to.
TalkTalk loses more and more reputation when it does not take responsibility, especially when it tries to blame customers.pappa_golf wrote: »he was from talk talk,

why was this info available to a non TT member of staff

Hey Emma
With respect, I think that is bad advice...
First off TalkTalkCare is an oxymoron, most customers will attest to that.
Secondly, people generally get better results by tweeting in response to the corporate twitter address @TalkTalk
or CEO address
@didoharding
Here are some press articles that explain a few things
"Dido Harding receiving bonuses and incentives worth 1,255% of base salary."
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jul/20/talktalk-pay-battle-investors-looms-agm
Unavoidable uncertainty?? REALLY! More like "Certain Incompetency" ; in 2015 there was NO EXCUSE for the hack as there are services that can protect from hacks and internal theft of data, they just did not take adequate measures.
Yet she brags "
' The company has also made it clear, however, that customers who have decided to terminate their contracts because of the uncertainty cannot do that for free unless they can show they have been “financially impacted” by the attack on the group and its customer base.
The company’s chief executive, Dido Harding, said on Thursday that the group would offer each of its customers a free upgrade, which could include either premium movies or sports content for a certain period, a broadband health check, a mobile SIM, or unlimited UK landine and mobile calls. Harding said: “This is a small gesture of goodwill after a period of uncertainty.” '
Damn right Small, translated this means we will hold a gun to their head and offer them a bar of cheap chocolate that we made ourselves using sawdust.
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/nov/11/talktalk-raises-dividend-cyber-attack-costs-revealed
Of course anyone who reads my posts will know about the price hikes at TalkTalk, for customers on promotions prices are now a 1342% price hike for basic broadband with International call boost and line rental, never mind the minefields of costs because you no longer get evening calls included and calls are now charged at what used to be called "mobile rates".
http://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/oct/30/talktalk-price-rises-phone-broadband
Of course WalkWalk (my new name for them because that is what customers have, will or should be doing) have a heritage of breaking rules, from calling people without permission who checked broadband availability to the giving people the silent call treatment, something that cost them £750k
http://www.theguardian.com/money/2013/apr/18/talktalk-750000-silent-call-fine
WalkWalk estimated the cost of the hack at £35m (which will be passed on to remaining customers) as will the bribe to shareholder in the form of an increase in dividend.
It is a classic case of a company forgetting that it is customers not investors that are loyal, pay your bills, refer you to friends and the best source of future revenue.
What we have NOT seen is any heads on the block for the numerous episodes of incompetence. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0
