A damage limitation exercise by T.T now trying to prevent any compensation claims and customers jumping ship by the 000's. Still only interested in the ££££££

I have been having these calls for over 2 months-reported them to fraud squad.
Prior to that i informed talk talk but all they said was we have not made those calls?
Anyway back to the numbers that i have recorded they all seem to start with the same format ie
00198 etc
00197 etc
00218 etc
00164 etc
i have had many of these calls from all men and women that dont speak proper english.
I started monitoring them from 2/7/15 but they had been calling well before that.
As soon as you ask for their number so you can ring them back they say they cant give it and offer all sorts of excuses then they put the phone down.
My phone has gone quiet for the last week or so -i feel they are to busy with the latest cyber attack
i used the call barred system for all the scam numbers that they say my computer is at risk etc etc.
I will hopefully leave talk talk for another reason which is
twice i needed an engineer over the past 2 years and within 48 hours i got scam calls saying they was an engineer and knew everything about my problem and wanted me to go on my computer etc
this was another scam-i then have toask myself how do they know this infomation so soon
strange isnt it
i will leave talk talk s.a.p as i have no secure confidence.
I would leave now but they said they would charge me approx £145. So i am stuck till may next year,
i hope this changes soon0 -

They gained online access to one of his bank accounts and caused a very difficult situation (ok now). Police involved.
They new all his personal details, talktalk details and bank details.
Wouldn't be surprised if we see group legal action against talktalk at some stage.
I feel very sorry for your Uncle, but if he gave online bank details to any 3rd party he was very foolish. It is noticeable that older people are often the targets, they don't understand the risks. The level of awareness in the general public is frighteningly poor.0 -

The embattled telecoms giant this weekend faces an exodus of customers furious that their sensitive data was not kept safe after one of the most damaging cyberattacks to hit a British company.
Cybersecurity experts estimate the debacle could cost TalkTalk up to £75m in lost revenue and other costs.
The company could be forced to make a multimillion-pound legal pay!out, with lawyers saying that customers who claim TalkTalk has breached data protection laws could sue the firm, with potential payouts of about £1,000 each.
TalkTalk also faces an inquiry by the Information Commissioner’s Office into whether it breached the Data Protection Act by failing to protect customer details. The office has the power to fine companies up to £500,000.

Like VW, it will have to be a class action to get individual compo.
Then it won't succede. Not here , in US, maybe.
What can you claim,if nothing is stolen, except Data, even though that's valuable.0 -
It will be interesting to see what action the ICO take.
The have the ability, but probably not the will, to impose a massive fine on TT.
The danger with that is, to pay the fine, TT will put up prices yet again.
Twice a year one energy company will increase its prces, the rest then follow suit.
The same thing happens with ISP`s, BT will kick it off and the rest will follow.
That`s the way competition works in this counrty.0 -
I'm with Virgin, so hopefully whats happened to Talk Talk will prevent any complacency on their part.0
