  • yes her statements are carefully worded to say "I cant say any more as I don't know this info"

the ICO , are only after one thing , they are a tax collector for the government , max fine £500,000 , however this has already been recovered by TT by removing the 10% early payment option

I used to get called twice a day by TTs rude marketeers I managed to stop that eventually but this year I have had several calls doing the "we have spotted a fault" trick. I think TT have had a leaky website for months.

Just had my talk talk broadband bill in. £121 for the month instead of the usual £15.

Cannot access MyAccount to chase it up and their Live Chat facility is not opening either.

I don't have a direct debit or credit card and Noodle asks for these details (even though they say they don't take any money) so how can I sign up for a noodle account?

I pay my TT bill online using DD and only have a building society account.

    Thanks :o)

I'm pretty sure the TT website said noddle only needed credit card deatils to verify your id online - otherwise they(noddle) will send you a questionaire in the post.

I didn't read it properly, but suggest you do if you don't have a credit card. :)
  • I have just received an email from TT stating I would be eligible to sign up to Noddle for free with their code. Noddle is a free service, I hope they did not spend too much money giving access to a free service.:rotfl:

Punters are furious on TalkTalk's forums.

However, it appears the data breach may not have been as serious as initially reported.

    https://help2.talktalk.co.uk/oct22incident:

The investigations by TalkTalk and the Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit into the cyber attack continue. We can confirm that the latest update of our investigation is as follows:
    • This cyber attack was on our website not our core systems
    • We can confirm that we do not store complete credit card details on the website; any credit card details that may have been accessed had a series of numbers hidden and therefore are not usable for financial transactions eg 012345xxxxxx 6789
    • TalkTalk My Account passwords have not been accessed
    • We now expect the amount of financial information that may have been accessed to be materially lower than initially believed and would on its own not enable a criminal to take money from your account
    • The Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit criminal investigation continues

The latest word is that only partial card details were taken and, despite what was reported earlier, passwords were not.

I guess the thieves, perhaps, only have a list of names, addresses and phone numbers. Possibly birth dates, too, however a lot of Talktalk users have said they've never given theirs to the company.

I think these data breaches are far more common than people think and wouldn't be surprised if those details weren't floating around out there already.

Yesterday, it was reported that customer's National Security numbers had been taken during the attack. Seriously??? Has anyone ever given their Internet provider their National Security number? Don't we refer to it as National Insurance number anyway?
Adrian Culley, a former detective at Scotland Yard’s cybercrime unit, said the hack appeared to be the work of Islamist militants after a group claimed responsibility for the attack in the name of Allah. He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It appears at face value to be Islamic cyberterrorism.”

The claim could not be verified, but Culley pointed out that a group calling itself “TalkTalk Hackers” published what it claimed was a sample of dozens of email addresses and national security numbers as proof of the attack.

We know that issues like this can be worrying so we've partnered with Noddle, a credit reporting service from Callcredit, one of the leading credit reference agencies, to offer 12 months of credit monitoring alerts for free. This service can now be activated by using the following code: TT231.

£20 money saving tip: I'd guess Noddle don't know if punters who use the code are TalkTalk customers or not. :rotfl:

noodle is free to anyone , it only shows you a snapshot of a random day in every mth , as such it can be as much as 7 weeks late in showing you the facts , what talk talk have done is to give you the "email alert" , if something major happens to your account.

noodle is so well thought of in the CRA circles that very few companies inc talk talk use them.

so for example if your info was used to open a mobile phone contract with most companies , inc talk talk , you would not be informed.

The Noddle credit report is as you say a free service but TT are giving customers the chance to sign up for e-mail alerts at no cost, these usually are an add on and cost£20, this was detailed in the e-mail from TT.

As I was already signed up with Noddle I took advantage of the free add on, every little helps and this should advise customers of any "unusual" activity or searches.
