  • DreamerHelen, lovely to read that you're feeling so much better health-wise and that work is going well:T. Take care of yourself:beer:

Sorry I don't get on here much, or haven't recently anyway. Not been very well but have turned the corner now and am feeling a lot livelier and generally more enthusiastic about things. I think the cooler weather has helped too, I just can't cope with really hot weather:o

Well done to all savers and commiserations to all who have had to spend:beer:

Back to square one for Goal 1 too. Decided I needed a scooter so I can get to my boxing lessons. It's difficult begging the car from BF cos he needs it for work. £595 for the scooter, £310 for helmet, gloves, boots and jacket (safety first). Leaves £95 which will get eaten up with the MOT and insurance.

Mums been paid another £100, so now £1400 owed. All things going well I plan to pay her off by the end of the year.

I used my funds as a deposit to buy a bungalow, having previously been renting. It is part of my longer term plan- I am 45, mortgage is for 18 years (hopefully a bit less with over paying). Intention is to be mortgage and rent free prior to retirement. So I will be starting again, but not from scratch. I have £1500 in an account (technically emergency fund but I don't have a lot of things I would need it for- no car for example, can borrow use of a washing machine if mine breaks). I am saving for a couple of things at the mo, I need to get my back garden cleared for example- it is badly overgrown (was before I moved in)- so I am saving up to get that done. I also have a 2nd bedroom, previously I had I one bed flat. So I am saving for furniture for that. (may be second hand depending on cost- but still needs saving for). My revised fund totals are for 3 months (£2040) 6 months (£4080).
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    Hi All,

I hope you are all keeping well and funding those emergency funds when you can or using them when you need to. I'm still cheering you all on along the way :j :j

I've been giving my situation some consideration and have made some amendments to my pension and savings goals.

I'm aiming to overpay more off my mortgage and want to be mortgage free several years before it's due. (currently 5yrs 9months - May 2024)

My mortgage payments recently changed in line with the BoE rate change but instead of going up they have gone down due to the OPs I've been making. This was a surprise as I thought the adjustment would see my term reduced. A bill going down is normally seen as a nice surprise :D - trust me to be different :p

Long story short - spoke to my mortgage company and I can either go through a full blown mortgage review to change the term or I can just make OPs and regardless of the paperwork when the balance is zero there will be no more mortgage and no ERCs.

This is now my next goal so I would like to amend my target to £6000. This gives me more than enough for 6 months of expenses.

This now does mean I should hit my target roughly by the end of the year.

Although I've nothing to add until pay day, Helen could you please amend the target?

    Summary £5450.31/£6000 aka 90.84%

    Keep on keeping on everyone
