Depending on how flexible you are, you could go on the 6th (or the 1st) for a week for £276

Which airline is this? I'm looking for a 6 day break. I can't see anything belwo the £300 mark

Hiya, i am looking for flights 29/7 - 4/8 to NYC, but the cheapest that I have found is £557 with virgin, which isnt really very cheap. Going from London, dont mind going to newarke if makes it cheaper, but dont know where to look. Kayak had a really good deal, 2 wks ago, £323 for july, but the flights have now gone. Any advice???

    peediedj... what you found already?
what dates are you looking at?
what airport are you wanting to fly from?

let us know that info, and we'd be more than happy to see if we can beat the prices... :)

£289 ain't a bad price to be honest... anything under £300 these days is a good price and worth grabbing....

as for a hotel, i wholeheartedly recommend the Cosmopolitan hotel, book through hotelconxions.com and you get a slightly cheaper rate than if you booked with the hotel. its in a great location in tribeca...

also, if you're flying with delta, you'll probably fly into JFK, so a hotel in Newark is miles away!!!!

when i have 5 spare mins, i'll do a quick search for flights...

i can't find anything better than those flights right now... so if you're happy with the price, i'd go ahead and book them.. I say, that if you can get a flight nearer to £250, then you're onto a winner, but if you're wanting to book now for November, i don't think that price can be beaten right now!

aaah, it could be a AF code share... no worries...!!!!

ok.. bear these things in mind when staying outside of manhattan

20 mins on a train in - cost
you can't dump your shopping at the hotel, and you're stuck in manhattan, unless you want to do an hour round trip just to drop shopping off before you do sightseeing. so more cost and time wasted there..

evenings, there might not be much to do around your hotel, and trains to Newark might not run all night, unlike the subway which is 24 hours, so you could be landed with an expensive taxi back to newark in an evening...

personally, i've done NYC 10 times now, and i'd never stay anywhere in Jersey, just because of the cost of going back and forth..

now if you want to reduce costs, look at hotels in Queens or Brooklyn, these will be cheaper than Manhattan!

One thing i'll just mention, as a note to all moneysavers who might be looking back at previous posts on this thread.

in the past 3 months, oil prices have gone up drastically, we can tell this by how much we pay for petrol. also, with being here, and going to NYC a lot, i've noticed that in the past 3 month period, that flight prices are also going up. recently it has been possible to get flights nearer to the £200 mark, whereas now, we're looking at prices around the £250 mark..

my signature has changed to reflect the new prices that are around, and I wholeheartedly thing that if you can find a direct flight around the £275 mark, its worth buying it, as this is really the best price around at the moment.

I does seem to be harder right now to get the bargain fares we've been used to, however, within the next 12 months, the open skies agreement comes more into play, and there will be even MORE flights to NYC and the USA, so prices may eventually drop again.

I hope that helps some people in knowing what prices are around at the moment, and what really is a bargain.

Also, when you book your flight, don't check prices again!! i once did and was kicking myself that I overspent by £30!!!!
