Looking for the cheapest flights for 4 (2 adults, 1 X 15 year old, 1 X 13 year old) 17th July - 21st July) to NYC. All flights seem to be around £350+ at the moment but am sure better deals will come up due to credit crunch etc. Any thoughts?

Hi Just a quick question, going NY on thursday, booked with BA as my mate a manager with them and was upgrading me, however he's had a heart attack so havent mentioned it to him again. My question is we're flying NCL-LHR-JFK, is it best to ask for the upgrade on the NY fight when we get to newcastle or wait until LHR, and do I mention my matesname in the hope it swings it for us? It was to be the icing on thecake and we paid more for BA to get the upgrade, couldnt put my friend under any pressure now tho.

Have booked with Delta at £349 per person from Manchester to JFK in May (direct)- anyone flew this route/with delta before? What did you think?

Read a few poor reviews about Delta and just a bit worried made a bad decision to go with them

Also, anyone flown with Swiss International Air to New York? Opinions?

Choice of British Airways, Swiss International Air and Delta- which would you choose?

    Thanks

recently, in the main NYC thread, i've commented on Delta, oh, and about 4 posts above yours i've commented on Delta, and have nothing but good stories about them.....

I personally wouldn't fly BA, as they have slightly less legroom, whereas Delta have a bit more....... never flown Swiss...

    BMI don't fly MAN-NYC?? Not direct anyway.:o

    Directs are:
    Continental MAN-EWR
    Delta MAN-JFK (Air france codeshare)
    BA MAN-JFK (AA codeshare)

As far as i know that's it.

BTW, anyone know if flyglobespan plan to do Liverpool-JFK again??

there are plenty of nondirect routes too.. though not many of them sensible..

MAN - AMS - JFK (why fly into Europe to then go to NYC, you're doubling back on yourself)

MAN - PHL - LGA (this is a route I like, the MAN - PHL flight is great, and then its only a short hop up to LGA, which is a cheap taxi ($30) into NYC!

Seems after looking on seatguru a bit more closely that the plane we're flying on is a newer Delta plane which must be good plus each seat has its own personal video and audio screen. Thanks once again for your input markymoo, BA would be £45 more to fly indirect per person and Swiss about £50 more per person indirect. Think we'll stick with Delta and hopefully have a good experience.

hmm.. delta with AVOD on a TATL... wow.. they've upgraded that route since i checked last.. and that was back in JAN..

still no at seat power which bugs the hell out of me... them AVOD screens are atrocious most of the time, and i like to watch movies on my laptop... maybe i've been spoiled with my TATL trips on US Air

The above link leads me to believe that their will be AVOD on our plane

Yep-I don't think they'll come down. Not for the first week of school holidays. In your situation I'd grab them at £350. Good luck if you sit it out.
