woohooo.... someone else has said about the three months rule!!!!
Thanks HoofHearted for reading probably a million posts from me saying that!!
DP26, you should be able to get flights for the £300 mark quite easily, keep looking and checking, but you might have to wait til May before you see some cheaper prices online!
btw, i can do £456 right now, booking with swiss airlines, flying from London City.. (wow!)

If you had the choice of the following three airlines to fly to New York with which would you pick? Prices are very similar on the dates I wish to travel with each.
1. Air France
2. Delta
3. ContinentalCARLISLE UNITED FC SUPPORTER

they're all part of the same FrequentFlyer team, so my first choice of what gives me miles, goes out of the window...
now, i've flown AF before to NYC, but it really does add a bit of time on the journey, going to Paris, before heading out to the USA... and also, the night flights on the way back, i found unbearably hot, and they wouldn't adjust the heating, because they said that people want it that hot.... so, again, i wouldnt' fly with them again for that reason..
Delta, now i've just flown with them, and thought their service was great... better than US Airways, and better than American Airlines.. so thats saying something.... maybe i got a great flight crew, who enjoyed their work... but overall the flight was great... the only downside was there is no AVOD (persona video screens) on the TATL (transatlantic) flights..
Continental... now, i've looked at flying with them from Manchester before, and what put me off is that they don't use a widebody aircraft, so the seating arrangement is
XXX | XXX
on the planes.. this means if you're travelling alone, you might get two people next to you, or worse, if you're a couple, one of you probably ends up with the MIDDLE SEAT, which is the worst seat on any aircraft... you have a person each side..... ugh.... and if you have a window seat, you've got the "double excuse me" to get up and out.... and with 3 seats next to each other, and only one aisle, it can feel cramped on that style of plane, for that length of time..
check out the airlines planes on seatguru, and see which ones gives you the best features... things to look for are AVOD, and At Seat Power... the food service is much the same on each flights, but i found Delta do more drinks trolley runs than other airlines..
after all that.. my vote - DELTA..0 -
Hi everyone,
I was hoping for someone to advise me. Were going to New York 12/09 - 26/09 I was going to book our flights with Zoom premium class but they have cancelled the return flight and I'm having trouble getting similar prices even for economy class. The totoal price was £1400 but I also want extra legroom as OH is very tall. In addition we are travelling with a 2 year old. Can anyone advise me when would be best to book and what price I should be paying? And any good websites?

Hi I dont know where you want to fly from but we went in October and flew from Bristol with continental. They allowed us to reserve our seats and we managed to get wing seats with loads of room. If you book with zoom you are very limited on luggage I think 20Kg 1 suitcase each. With Continental and all american airlines you are allowed 2 suitcases at 30 kg each a big difference. I have also flown from Heathrow with United. With regards to price it does vary from site to site I booked directly with continental and paid £345.00 each but we also flew to Orlando aswell in the price. When I flew from London I paid £285 but it depends on where you want to fly from as I live close to both Cardiff and Bristol airport I prefer to fly locally. If you need any other details then just email me I am off to New York in October .0

Hi sorry I didn't say I want to fly from Manchester but will consider Gatwick.0

BA fly from Manchester and if you are flexible with dates you can view the cheapest day to fly. KLM fly from Manchester they tend to fly in to Amsterdam where you can have a long wait before your connecting flight. BMI also fly to New york but you may have the problem with restrictions on luggage. I always book as early as possible as last time I flew the prices in two days had gone up by £50 per person!!!!!!0

BMI don't fly MAN-NYC?? Not direct anyway.:o
Directs are:
Continental MAN-EWR
Delta MAN-JFK (Air france codeshare)
BA MAN-JFK (AA codeshare)
As far as i know that's it.
BTW, anyone know if flyglobespan plan to do Liverpool-JFK again??0
