Following on from what markymoo has just said, if it is cheaper to fly into one airport but depart from another then go for it. The last time I went (October 2006) I arrived at Newark and departed from JFK.This space has been intentionally left blank0
;7745749]Good point. Well I'm in South Wales so Cardiff/Bristol are the closest (but unlikely to be any good).
Apart from that next closest is Birmingham and then London or Manchester.
Havent really found any prices yet....
Does no Saturday night make that much of a difference then?
the not stopping saturday night makes a huge difference (to deter business people from using cheap fares )
you could fly continental/klm from bristol via amsterdam but you really need a sat. night stay .....if you don't / can't stay on a saturday night you may be better off with silverjet from luton ( £800+ in the sale but still cheaper than economy with some of the majors )....the non-sat night thing will involve an awful lot of searches on the internet to check all the options...try expedia or similar to get a feel for the prices0 -
it doesn't look like there are any deeply discounted fares available yet from the airlines, as the cheapest i can find is over £300. May is sometimes a slightly pricier month than others, as it is getting warm, and not as humid and hot as july and august.
Keep checking the major websites for prices, and maybe by end feb / march there will be something cheap!!!
Same here, i couldnt find anything under £300... thanks very much for your help tho, i will keep looking!!!

If you could stretch it to 3 nights £189 Gatwick-JFK, or £195 from Manchester, prices p.p. inc all taxes with Delta, these prices from lastminute.com, possibly cheaper at Delta.com but more of a fussy site !!0 -
Hey peeps
FYI and as it hasn't been posted here yet, there's a thread over on Grabbit discussing some fantastic deals on NY flights:

You beat me to it Crabman.. c'mon, surely i can have some glory.. please?
i'll be booking my flights, from MAN via Gatwick for an amazing £178... i'm sure i could do it cheaper, but delta only fly certain days from gatwick, and i can't be bothered changing my itinerary!!! i'll see..0 -
wow what a deal:j pity i cant seem to get the same price doing the route in reverse. If you fly directly from man does the plane go via gatwick?0

try on expedia....but search for MAN - JFK, don't use the NYC short code, it doesn't come up...
it for some reasons puts me on a BA flight from MAN - LGW, and then to JFK.. it works out a better overall flight, than either changing my dates to get a direct ticket, and better than having to change in atlanta, as you get in at 9pm in the evening...
fingers crossed you can get the flights you want..0 -
thanks markymoo0

thanks markymoo
are you going on the same days as me... as i've had to wait to book mine, as my sister was still at work... (we're booking on our own cards, to save on balance transfer fees and the like!!) and now i can't get them flights at that price on expedia..
doesn't matter.. we've decided to drive to gatwick, and fly direct, doesn't cost me anything in fuel, thanks to the company car, and it is only £149 return.. WOW, that is a scorcher of a price! to think i was going to book this week and pay £256..
ok... the parking is slightly more expensive, but the money i've saved, it just superb!0
