  • Hi everyone i'm also going to New York for 2 weeks in July from the 1st to the 15th with a friend. The acommodation is already booked so i just need to sort out flights.

I am based in Mereyside and my friend is from Dorset so we can fly from either Manchester or any London airport, i have searched and searched and so far the best i can come up with is £311 flying with Air India.

We where wanting to book next week as this is when we both recieve the cash that we need and we don't really want to wait and run the risk of not being able to find anything reasonable.

I did budget for around £350 but if i could get it between the £225-£250 i'd be delighted. I have a feeling your all probably going to tell me to wait but just thought i'd try.

Ideally we want a direct flight i did think about going outbound with one carrier and inward with another, has anybody tried this before and saved a decent amount?

    Thanks in advance!

BTW a direct flight from Manchester would be slightly shorter than London.

    Hi All,

I am hoping to get some flights to New York in March time, which crosses over a weekend. Ideally it would be the Easter weekend, but will be flexible if the price was so different... I have tried to stick with the 3 month rule, and the cheapest I can find is approx £305 per person!. I am wanting to fly from Ncl, so the most common option seems to be thru a london airport. Do you think this is the cheapest I may get given I want to fly from a regional airport? or do you think I should keep searching?

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated :cheesy:

    Thank you.

let me go through these in reverse order.

You don't tell me how long you want to stay for, but the cheapest flights i can find for easter flying from NCL comes up at £340 ish... which involve a change at london. (thurs - mon)
i've tried for the week before, and i can get £271 from Manchester, and £312 from NCL...

Lipstick Lady - read my guide to booking your NYC holiday, a 3 month rule seems to work quite nicely for myself and other people on this forum that have tried it..

haynesycop - july.... dare i repeat myself and say 3 months again?? hehe... i can't get anything cheaper than your price currently, the thing is though the discounted fares have not been released, don't worry yourself, and just wait patiently...

i've booked fares as near as 1 month in advance, because i don't want to pay over the odds... i'm looking at £255 from Manchester for 5th - 11th March which is through Continental, booking directly through their website, now expedia, hide these fares, and i have to search for my flights, then search for continental flights only, and then they pop up... so you can't rely on expedia for showing you the true cheap flights (also, the add on £10!!!)

Well good luck in finding your flights, i know i sound like a broken record...

    FAO Honeypie.
Try AerLingus out of Newcastle or Ryanair out of Teesside into Dublin. Then Aer Lingus out of Dublin into JFK. We have just used Aer Lingus to return from New York (booked quite a way in advance) £93 one way and 1p =taxes into Teesside. Absolutely nothing to complain about whatsoever. www.aerlingus.com. Hope this helps. sally

i've flown aer lingus before from MAN, when there was a good deal... One thing i like about flying through dublin, is that all the immigration is done at dublin, and then all you have only to pick up your bag and go thru customs (30 seconds) and you're done...
  • Thanks for the quick reply, think im just going to book now for £311 and at least then it is sorted, the accommodation was only £185 for the two weeks so that is under £500 altogether.

    :)
