I just went on chat but they insisted on phoning me. Offered me £17.40 for BB and line rental or £23.90 for the same with free evening and weekend calls (the package I have now except I currently pay £16.40 so it will be a huge jump. they didn't seem interested in haggling.0

Ok that's the standard new customer offer just now.or £23.90 for the same with free evening and weekend calls
That doesn't make sense. It should be £17.40 for LR plus £4 for E&W calls so £21.40.(the package I have now except I currently pay £16.40 so it will be a huge jump.
You would only have weekend calls just now and £17.40 for LR/BB would be without weekend calls.they didn't seem interested in haggling.
You would really have to say you were leaving and quote some deals as comparison.0 -
they didn't seem interested in haggling.
You have to try again ; I did, this afternoon.
Result : £29.99, before price increase for Variety, broadband , line and Anytime calls, as I have to keep Variety for 31 days.
£28.99, after price increase for Original, broadband, line and Anytime Extra calls.
Effectively £25.82 and £24.82, because of £50 credit.0 -
In May we decided we wanted to leave Sky because the bills were getting too much. They agreed a new price for 9 months on condition that we take out a new 12 month contract. We asked if this would remain at that price for the whole of the 9 months. We were told yes apart from a possible rise in line rental that they have no control over.
Today we got an email to say that our bills would be going up by £4. My husband rang Sky and they said that they would only bring the contract back down to that price if we take out a new 12 month contract. He said no because we only sorted this contract out in May and we just wanted what we had agreed back then. Basically they told us no not unless we agreed to a new 12 month contract and they can put their fees up whenever they like. In the end my husband got annoyed and said that we will just cancel even if it means paying a cancellation fee. They said that we can cancel phone and broadband with a cancellation fee because that is where the price rise has come from but we are not allowed to cancel the television. They said that the only way to get out of it is if there was a problem with payments. I don't want to go down that road though we just want out of the contract even if it involves a fee.:mad:0 -

The TV and BB/LR contracts are separate so yes you can get out of the TV/BB contract but not the TV without a fee.0 -
It's not a fixed price contract, they can increase it any time. However if you can prove that they offered you a fixed price for 9m, except for the line rental component, then you should be able to hold them to this and keep that price until February, without any requirement for a new minimum term contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Glad I saw your post -it is worth noting that the anytime extra package also includes *landline*calls to Ireland (and 21 other "popular destinations") at 2p a minute (I realize your parents also call Irish mobiles but thought it was worth mentioning as the focus seems to be on the mobile aspect and the cheap international calls in the package has been pretty much ignored on this thread )
Just to emphasize to get the anytime extra before 01 December you have to call to switch it -it isn't automatically moved til 01 December but if the new package works out better it makes sense to call and switch earlier. I find the customers with teenagers who are always running out of credit and using the landline to ring their friends mobiles are especially keen as it will remove the need to nag at them
Role reversal here  :rotfl:
My parents are the teenagers and I am trying to sort their bills as they depend on me to sort the bills for them because they reckon I will get them the best deal.0 -

I had a call about 4pm,yesterday,saying it was not possible to process the £9.99(going to £10.99) line rental offer , so offered me £2 extra off tv, but paying full for line rental.
However, I pointed out that this would mean I'd be out of pocket and was offered half price line, meaning I'm now £1.79 a month better off; £2.29 after the price rise. (£8.20 instead of £9.99,then £8.70 instead of £10.99).0 -
can you cancel the full package BB & Line?0
