How can they do this when I have only recently locked into a new 12 month contract at £22.40 per month for 12 months until July 2016

You didn't agree a fixed price contract as Sky ( and all other providers ) don't do fixed price contracts. You agreed a price based on their prices at the time.
I still want anytime calls and calls to mobiles is great for basically £3 a month more, but I am still in a renegotiated 12 month contract until July 2016.

The increase in prices allows you to leave with no cancellation fees within 30 days of receiving the letter advising you of the changes.

So the ball is in your court. You can accept the changes or leave.
  • They don't keep to contracts simple, it only applies when in their favour. This will only change when the regulator enforces that a contract is just that, with the terms being kept for the next 12 months, otherwise its a breach of contract surely?

No it's not a breach of contract as their T&C clearly state that they can raise prices. However you also must have the option of leaving.

There are no telecommunications products that are fixed price for the length of the contract.
  • Thanks, so they can offer you x,y and z for £10 a month for 12 months, then after 2 months charge what they like and you either bend over and take it, or move. Only just ditched BT for SKY.

    Scandalous practice :(

Nothing is being forced upon you, as you may leave penalty free, when increases are made. Contracts with these providers fix the percentage discount and not the price.

Can you reduce the amount you spend on your mobile phone by more than £3 per month and then use your landline more often to make calls to mobile numbers?

    If so, you win.
  • Hi,

If like me you took out the 1/2 price line rental and free Broadband for a year package in July, You will be aware that the Weekend Talk package is now no longer available.

You will have been automatically upgraded to the new £4 a month package of which had a free months trial. This will expire very shortly so if you don't need a inclusive calls package, You can downgrade back to a PAYG package which just charges for what you use (I have a cheap mobile for calls and never use the landline).

It's very easy. Just sign into the SKY website and visit "Your Package", Go to the "Talk Package" area and highlight the "PAYG Package" to avoid the £4 a month cost of the upgraded package.

    HNY everyone
