My Sky ADSL BB contract was ending on 26th Nov. I phoned them to get their best offer to retain me as a customer and mentioned MSE offer for free ADSL BB with £75 cashback from Plusnet. I got offered free BB for 12 months and 1 months free line rental, which I accepted. Didn't want the hassle of switching to Plusnet.

Thanks for the info. I just rang Sky too as my 12 months free broadband contract is about to run out. I told them about this PlusNet offer and they were surprised how good it was. They put me on hold and came back offering 12 months free broadband and 2 months line rental credit. The lady was very helpful and I got through on the phone in minutes so I decided not to jump ship. £174 with Sky V £111 with Plusnet but no hassle of moving over and I know what I'm getting. Some of the reports on Plusnet queue times were daunting.

I mentioned the plusnet deal... the only thing they offered was 12 months free broadband, nothing on line rental whatsoever, So for me its £17.50 line rental and £8 for anytime extra - so 25.40 per month, £304 per year :(

try again, you may have more luck.
  • I called two days in a row and got the same answer, as that deal is the best deal on my account.

I am wondering if I should switch to fuel or talk talk as they are offering free BB for a year and line rental is only £16.40

For normal ADSL broadband (non-fibre?) neither.

  • I have been on to sky today after receiving my email telling me about the price hike. I have managed to secure £10 per month off fibre broadband for 12 months (saving £120), a decrease in my line rental to £9.99 a month for ten months (saving £74.10), 10% reduction on my sky TV, (saving £69.90), a 50% discount on talk weekend and evening (saving £24), and cancelled voicemail for which I was paying £1.25 a month (saving £15) so a total saving over the next year of £303. All done on sky chat so didn't even have to speak to anyone! Happy days
  • no luck, whatsoever for me, they aren't budging:(

This is interesting because a year ago they were jumping through hoops to keep me.

i might have to bite the bullet and go with it, as i cant fault the service, and cant guarantee moving somewhere else i'll get the same.
